CryptoPunks Traits: The Key to Rarity and Value CryptoPunks derive much of their enduring appeal and massive market value from their carefully designed traits (also called attributes). These pixelated 24x24 characters are algorithmically composed from a limited set of visual elements, creating unique combinations that determine rarity and cultural status. Core Types (The Foundation of Rarity) Every CryptoPunk falls into one of five base types: • Alien — Only 9 exist (rarest and most valuable) • Ape — 24 total • Zombie — 88 total • Female — 3,840 • Male — 6,039 (most common) The non-human types (Alien, Ape, Zombie) command significant premiums due to extreme scarcity. Aliens, in particular, have repeatedly broken sales records, with individual pieces selling for tens of millions. Attributes: 87 Distinct Traits Beyond the base type, each Punk can feature up to 7 traits drawn from a pool of 87 different attributes. These include: • Headwear: Beanie, Pilot Helmet, Top Hat, Knitted Cap, Fedora, Police Cap, Cowboy Hat, etc. • Hair: Mohawk, Wild Hair, Straight Hair, Crazy Hair, Purple Hair, Blonde Bob, etc. • Eyewear: Nerd Glasses, Big Shades, Classic Shades, 3D Glasses, Welding Goggles, Eye Patch, etc. • Facial Features: Buck Teeth, Mole, Shadow Beard, Luxurious Beard, Muttonchops, Rosy Cheeks, etc. • Accessories: Cigarette, Earring, Gold Chain, Pipe, Medical Mask, Choker, etc. Most Punks have 2–3 traits. Only one Punk (#8348) has the maximum of 7 traits, making it exceptionally rare. Conversely, 8 Punks have zero traits at all (often called “blank” or “pure” Punks). How Traits Drive Value Rarity in CryptoPunks comes from combination rather than single traits alone: • Extremely rare single traits (e.g., Beanie ~44 Punks, Choker ~48, Pilot Helmet ~54) boost value. • Non-human type + strong accessories creates the highest-tier “god-tier” Punks. • Trait count itself is a factor more traits generally equal higher rarity (with the 7-trait Punk being legendary). This trait system helped establish the blueprint for virtually every generative NFT collection that followed. Even years later, collectors obsess over trait combinations when evaluating or trading Punks. In short, CryptoPunks traits transformed simple pixel art into a sophisticated rarity engine one that continues to define blue-chip status in the NFT world. Whether you’re a collector or just an admirer, understanding these attributes is the best way to appreciate why these 24x24 images remain cultural icons.

Today I'm going to share my strategy for @GuessmyNft. I've noticed that despite being an intuitive and easy-to-play game, many people are having trouble getting the pair Round 10. The first thing we need to do when trying to guess a collection is to research it. So, let's go to schizodio.art where we have the traits listed separately. We choose the most common ones and guess. Obviously, if the NFT is rare, that trait will be harder to guess. Now you have something to start with, guess right.
