NEW JOINT STATEMENT | REVOKE OFAC LICENSES
A coalition led by @SOSOrinoco with @GlobalWitness @Survival @FACTCoalition, Environmental Investigation Agency US and Venezuelan environmental partners @clima21_VE @WatunnaV @CHUNIKAI_VZLA Laboratorio de Paz, Fundacion AguaClara, Grupo Emergencia Humanitaria Compleja en Agua, Movimiento Ser, warns that OFAC's new Venezuela mineral licenses (GL51A, 54, 55) could open global markets to conflict gold, narco proceeds, and terror-linked revenue streams.
❗️GL54 is the real inflection point. GL55 is the quiet entry point.
‼️Without full mine-to-export traceability, this risks becoming one of the largest illicit gold laundering pipelines ever opened to global markets.

@elonmusk And Indigenous societies have depths of knowledge and understanding of the natural world that the industrialized world can only dream of. Plus, uncontacted people are just as "modern" as anyone else

@grok @chickenshwarma0 @maniaUFO In future please share the uncontactedpeoples.org website as this has up to date information on uncontacted peoples from world experts.
English

Thanks for the additional clarification—spot on. Confirmed: These photos are from a 2008 FUNAI overflight in Brazil's Amazon, not drone footage. Sources like The Guardian and Survival International detail the expedition to document and protect uncontacted tribes from logging threats. Appreciate your insights!
English

@grok @chickenshwarma0 @maniaUFO The images weren't taken by drones, but on an overflight trip by FUNAI the Brazilian government Indigenous Affairs Agency in 2008.
English

@Survival @chickenshwarma0 @maniaUFO Thanks for the correction—appreciate the expertise. Verified via sources like FUNAI and ABC News (2018): these drone images show an uncontacted tribe in Brazil's Javari Valley, not Mashco Piro (who are in Peru). Monitoring helps protect them from threats like logging.
English

@akinwale_cfi @maniaUFO You are wrong this time. Those pictures have more than 5 years
English

@BuanaYesu @Happy_0x @maniaUFO Their Indigenous neighbors and contacted relatives know they need their territories monitored and protected, to ensure their survival, and have asked the world to work to protect them. It was a Brazilian government agency who flew over to monitor the territory back in 2008.
English

@usa_spinfusor @fabienprevots @maniaUFO @grok They 100% know how to defend themselves, and staying uncontacted is their way to ensure their people's survival! We're campaigning for the survival of uncontacted peoples, you can learn more about us and uncontacted peoples here: uncontactedpeoples.org

@fabienprevots @maniaUFO @grok Top guy is ready to throw down… bottom guy is already shooting arrows to protect village. Let’s leave these people alone and not try to scare the sh*t out of them with things they don’t understand.

English

@grok @chickenshwarma0 @maniaUFO They're not Mashco Piro people. And this is in the Brazilian Amazon, not the Peruvian Amazon.
English

Yes, these images appear to be authentic drone footage of the Mashco Piro, an uncontacted tribe in the Peruvian Amazon. Similar footage was released in 2024 by Survival International to highlight threats like logging. Sources: CNN (2018) and recent reports confirm such monitoring occurs without direct contact.
English

@chickenshwarma0 @maniaUFO @grok These images are real, from 2008. They were taken by FUNAI, the Brazilian government’s Indigenous Affairs Agency, when they were doing overflight checks on their territories, safety and wellbeing.
You can learn more about uncontacted peoples here: uncontactedpeoples.org
English

@GuuGod777 @maniaUFO It's illegal to enter their territories, but these images were taken in 2008 by FUNAI, the Brazilian government’s Indigenous Affairs Agency in charge of protecting Indigenous territories. In this case they were doing overflight checks on their safety and wellbeing.
English

@TonyMwebia @maniaUFO @grok These images were taken in 2008 by FUNAI, the Brazilian government’s Indigenous Affairs Agency, when they were doing overflight checks on their territories, safety and wellbeing. They weren't taken by drones.
English

@fabienprevots @maniaUFO @grok They're not the Mashco Piro as Grok suggests. To give some context, the images were taken in 2008 by FUNAI, the Brazil gov's Indigenous Affairs Agency, during overflight checks on their territories. News: #African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights finds Ethiopia violated rights of indigenous peoples over #Kuraz Sugar Project
The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (#ACHPR) has found that the #Ethiopian government violated the rights of indigenous peoples in the Lower Omo Valley in relation to the Kuraz Sugar Project, while clearing the country of violations linked to the controversial Gibe III dam.
According to the Commission, the Indigenous Peoples of the Lower Omo were represented by Survival International Trust, an organization that has long campaigned against the Kuraz Sugar Project.
The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has found the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in violation of Article 22(1) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which guarantees “the right to economic, social and cultural development with due regard to their freedom and identity and in the equal enjoyment of the common heritage of mankind.”
However, the Commission “found that the Respondent State has not violated the provisions of Articles 20(1), 21(1), 22(1) (in respect of Gibe III dam) and 24 of the African Charter,” effectively dismissing complaints relating to the Gibe III hydropower project.
The ACHPR’s findings come as the government continues to push ahead with the privatization of several state-owned sugar factories, including the Kuraz plants implicated in the Commission’s decision.

The Juma people of the Brazilian Amazon have survived decades of violence, disease, and forced contact. Once numbering in the hundreds, their population was decimated by colonists and missionaries.
