@kelehan_kevin3 The accepted Georgian period in relation to architecture is between the years 1714 and 1830, perhaps a little beyond that. I don’t consider 1936 to be a recognised Georgian period.

@BarnabasCalder Not a joist but an iron I-beam and necessary to form the opening shown while holding up the rest of the facade above. Iron beams common in Victorian houses in my experience..but doubt that it’s steel as to my mind it’s later?

This is a big joist for a house. Anyone know if these kinds of big Victorian houses used a lot of metal? I'd always assumed they were as bricky as they look. This could be later I guess, but it's not obvious why it would have become necessary.

@caulmick @irishexaminer Was An Garda Síochána called? This looks like breaking and entering. The Government needs to issue a statement that actions like this will have zero tolerance and the Gardaí will intervene. That’s the language we need to hear from the government. Today.

IT BEGINS Shocking video footage has shown a family of eight being evicted without notice from rented accommodation just days before St Patrick’s Day. The Brazilian-Portuguese couple evicted from their Donegal home were told that their children could be taken from them, the father would be arrested for burglary, and accused of stealing and taking drugs by a group of men who came unannounced to evict them after dark. #EvictionBan #WhereDoWeGo? #MassEviction irishexaminer.com/news/arid-4110…

Nothing is precious anymore - priorities of Climate Action Bill no longer count if continuing local authority permissions are being handed out for widespread city centre demolition as opposed to necessary retrofitting

The absolute hack of this proposed building. This building will face people as they leave the central bus/train station. A lovely late Georgian street leading to Baker Place, overshadowed. Is this the best they can come up with? Mediocre and over scaled. #Limerick

You may have noticed the absence of wheelie bins in my Dutch pictures, vital for narrow streets without setbacks. They achieve this partly through large underground bins like this one, each serving many properties. Could we do this more often in the UK?
