Things are better now. We don't have 12 patients intubated with nowhere to go in the ED anymore, our ED census has dropped from 190 to 40 now.

A week after we lost mother of 2 with no PMH (same age as me), I was dealing with abdominal pain consults in the ED where we were unofficially triaging patients as "unlikely to survive intubation" because we were facing a ventilator short fall

@MSHSDerm Then take a stand- state no benefit of over ‘X’ number of publications. I had a student counting her publications at the end of 2nd year, already asking if she needed a research year. Gap years=$; research years =$; and the >$, the < equity!

@SusanKaib It is a difficult landscape for students right now - we feel for students in this era of competitive applications!

@DrKShahwan Signals are a great start- 3 gold and 25 silver will allow an in-depth review of 100’s vs. ‘millions’ of applicants. But honestly, if you are “slicing hairs”, maybe focus more on diversity, community involvement, and pt. advocacy.

@SusanKaib It's definitely gotten ridiculous but also how do you wade through/distinguish between a sea of a million applications for very few spots, especially in the era of step 1 p/f? High quality research shows dedication to furthering the specialty. Quality should > quantity though.

@ScottsdalePD @scottsdaleazgov How is that possible? No possible way to ride down Scottsdale Road from Camelback to Indian School, or along Most major roads in So. Scottsdale- sidewalks randomly end, are filled with restaurant tables, lanes so narrow and then nothing without warning. We can do better!
