It's one thing to say older devices don't support some new feature or service or operating system. But to make the deliberate choice to brick a device that's working perfectly well, in order to force your customer to buy a new one, is a hostile act of predatory capitalism.

In an email to customers, Amazon announced that it would be ending service for Kindle devices older than the 2012 edition. Those devices will lose access to the Kindle Store. wired.com/story/amazon-p…

Every cancer case in Telangana must now be reported. In a major public health move, the TG govt has declared cancer a notifiable disease to build a robust state-wide surveillance system and generate accurate data on incidence, prevalence, mortality, screening, early detection, treatment planning and rehabilitation needs. What it means: • All diagnosed cancer cases must now be reported within 1 month • Rule applies to government, private, corporate, AYUSH hospitals, clinics, hospices • Even pathology & radiology labs, insurance companies, NGOs, births & deaths registry are covered • Every facility must maintain a designated cancer register • MNJ Institute of Oncology will act as the Centre of Excellence • Data will be shared with ICMR’s National Cancer Registry • Govt says patient privacy will be protected

This is one of the many reasons Indians prefer to WFO rather than from home! The minute we decide to WFH, parents will ask: - Aaj koi kaam nahi? - Kya hamesha meeting meeting? Bas baatein karni aati hai tum logon ko. - Bas 8 hours work? Mere time mein lunch break bhi laghbhag 10 minutes ka milta tha aur baki pura time kaam hi kaam hota tha! - Abhi kuch kaam nahi hai toh jara dhaniya le aa / mujhe X jagah drop kar do. It is so bad you start to feel that your manager or work environment feel less toxic! 😆

Overwhelmed at this recognition by the Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award by @dsfasiaorg. Danish embodied the unyielding spirit of journalism till his last breath, so to be named in the same sentence as him is a privilege. The jury saw value in my series "All In The Family", which tracked the family lineages of over 700 sitting high court and Supreme Court judges. The series isn't merely about bloodlines or legacies. It is a piece that I think tells several stories all at once: stories of representation, of who shapes the people who shape our justice, and most importantly, of transparency in the appointment process. Which is why it was good to see that soon after this article, for the first time ever, the Supreme Court released the list of judges appointed in recent years, with detailed disclosure on caste, gender and family lineages. This story wouldn't have been born without my editors at @ThePrintIndia, @ShekharGupta and @dksingh73, and without the support of my family. It does take a village and I'm happy to have found mine. Also, do check out the other winning entries because I came back home feeling extremely inspired.

What a win for Substack in India. Every week a handful of prominent writers and commentators are joining the platform- essentially creating the old twitter ecosystem. I think they should not waste this opportunity and expand their India operations.

Hi @DailyMail your “journalist” Perkin Amalaraj has taken this story from a report in the Kathmandu Post. The language is slightly different as it’s been re-written as a summary, but the details aren’t. You’ve ripped off the investigative work of a modest newspaper in Nepal and turned it into a real eye-grabbing story for you. You have mentioned the original story in one line and not even linked to the original report. How do you want to fix this?

#India: We regret fast passage of Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, without adequate stakeholder consultation. The amendments risk setting back hard-won rights of transgender people, replacing self-identification with mandatory medical verification processes. India has been a pioneer for rights of transgender & gender-diverse people. This Bill will have far-reaching impacts on right to privacy & risk marginalisation of transgender people.

I get that this is an unpopular view but: We need more journalists & fewer pundits. We need more original reporting & fewer hot takes riffing off the news. We don't have this because reporting takes work and is difficult & pontificating on YouTube is lazy & easy.
