Sunderland’s carbon emissions mostly come from: 🏭Industrial and commercial emissions; 🏠Domestic emissions; and 🚗Transport emissions. Sunderland has reduced its carbon emissions by 28% from 2005 to 2017. Together we can reduce Sunderland's carbon emissions every year.

Did you know there are around 250 species of bee in the UK? You'll certainly start seeing many of them and about, especially if you've planted flowers! Check out the chart below for some of the more common species, and see how many you can spot whilst out in the garden!

During his time as our President, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh took a hands-on role. He regularly attended park openings, including Mile End Park in east London in 1952, to which he returned in 2001 to see results of improvements. #ThankYouHRH

Assessing the devastation on this day in 1941 following a direct bomb strike on Whitehouse Cottages during the blitz. Five properties were seriously damaged but amazingly only two people were killed. History teaches us how our city has weathered many disasters and always will do.
