Today #UNGA80 adopted by consensus the resolution to establish the International Day of the #Mediterranean Diet on 16 November, whose text was co-facilitated by 🇮🇹 with the invaluable support of 🇨🇾🇭🇷🇬🇷🇫🇷🇱🇧🇲🇦🇵🇹🇸🇲🇪🇸🇹🇳. This is a capstone recognition of the Mediterranean Diet's crucial role in promoting health, well-being, #sustainability and resilience while at the same time reflecting and strengthening local communities' values, heritage and traditions.

Today, the @UN Security Council — under the leadership of Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 and Guyana 🇬🇾 — adopted by consensus a new resolution on Youth, Peace and Security. ✨ Young people are often the most affected by conflict, yet they are leading the way: organizing their communities, protecting civic space, and using technology to drive positive change. 📣 As we mark the 10th anniversary of Resolution 2250 (2015), this new commitment reinforces the call for all countries to meaningfully include youth in peace efforts and decision-making. ✨ A milestone for Youth, Peace and Security! Today, under Sierra Leone & Guyana’s leadership, the UN Security Council adopted a new YPS resolution by consensus—recognizing young people as leaders shaping peace & security. A win for youth and a reminder that the work continues!

At #UNGA80 #ThirdCommittee, 🇮🇹 Italy confirmed its full support to @UNODC activities & full appreciation for the instructive briefing by its Director for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs @CandiceWelsch. With 2025 marking the milestone 25th anniversary of the conclusion of UNTOC #PalermoConvention, Italy also announced it will submit the “omnibus crime resolution”, in order to achieve a consensual outcome which may provide a solid framework for multilateral efforts until 2027.

Today 🇮🇹 Italy’s PR Amb. @MauMassari chaired the first October Bureau meeting of #UNGA80 First Committee, ahead of the General Debate on 10/8, and stressed the Bureau's intent to reinforce dialogue among the membership, promote #inclusive participation and encourage innovative, forward-looking approaches to the discussions of the #FirstCommittee.

Our impact for Financing Development: 📍🇮🇹🇰🇪 @OECD call to action on capacity building and technical assistance, aimed to train more than 1,400 public officials from four #African countries. 📍🇮🇹Debt-for-Development Swap Initiative, within #MatteiPlan, to convert 100% of the debt of African #LDCs and 50% of the debt service for lower-middle-income African countries over the next 10 years. Let us all work together to make #Seville's ambitions a reality!
