On 14th February, we were delighted to organise and fund a beautiful Heart Globe installation in the town centre to celebrate Valentine’s Day ❤️ It was wonderful to see so many passersby stopping to take photographs, share a smile, and enjoy the moment. Small touches like this help create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere and give people a reason to pause and connect. #Suttoncoldfield

Representing 340 businesses in Sutton Coldfield town centre is both a privilege and a responsibility. We are proud to deliver vibrant farmers & craft markets, year-round events, and projects that enhance the experience of our town. That visible work matters and we love doing it. But our role goes beyond events. At times, we must also act as a collective voice, advocating and lobbying for the improvements that matter most to the businesses we represent. That may mean raising difficult issues or pushing for change. When we do, it is always constructive, professional, and focused on the long-term success of the town. We hope our message is received in the spirit it is sent: committed, collaborative, and rooted in care for our community. Link to article: birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-… #Suttoncoldfield

We’re pleased to share that planning permission has been approved by Birmingham City Council for four brand-new Padel Courts on the rooftop of the Gracechurch Shopping Centre multi-storey car park. This is fantastic news for the town centre, bringing an exciting, fast-growing sport right into the heart of Sutton Coldfield. Padel is one of the UK’s fastest growing activities, and this development will introduce a vibrant new leisure offer, attracting more visitors, increasing footfall, and creating even more reasons to spend time in the town. Activating the rooftop space in this way is a brilliant example of reimagining and diversifying town centre spaces, blending retail, leisure and wellbeing to create a more dynamic destination. We look forward to seeing this exciting project take shape and will share updates as they progress! 🎾✨ 🚨 Image is not of the actual padel courts and is for illustration purposes only.

888 signatures so far – thank you for your incredible support 🙏 Yesterday, Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market closed suddenly, and the traders are keen for the market to be reopened as soon as possible. This petition is in support of the market traders and will be presented to the agent acting on behalf of the freeholder. We are urging them to allow the traders to either form a consortium to take on the lease, or for a new market operator to take on the lease, so the market can reopen. Every signature helps demonstrate the strength of public support for Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market and the vital role it plays in our town centre. At this stage, the traders’ preference is for the current indoor market to be reopened, allowing them to remain together and continue trading. 👉 Please sign the petition here: change.org/p/reopen-sutto… #Suttoncoldfield

ℹ️ Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market on South Parade has long been a cherished cornerstone of our community, supporting local traders and providing residents with a diverse range of affordable, high-quality goods and services. On 28 January 2026, traders were informed by letter that the market would close with immediate effect that same day. This sudden closure has put the livelihoods of many local individuals and families at risk, including some traders who have operated in the market for 25 years. The closure has delivered a serious blow to the local economy at a time when small businesses are already under immense pressure. Beyond its economic importance, the indoor market is a vital community space, its a safe, welcoming hub that brings people together, fosters social connection, and supports independent enterprise. It also offers an essential stepping stone for small businesses and entrepreneurs who cannot afford the costs of standalone retail premises. The loss of Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market threatens not only individual livelihoods but the character and resilience of our town centre. Its immediate reopening is critical to protecting local businesses and preserving this valued community asset. We call upon the landlord, their property management agent who we have contacted, and key town centre stakeholders to recognise the indispensable value of Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market and take urgent action to ensure it reopens as soon as possible. Traders are aware they could relocate but at this stage their preference is for the indoor market to be reopened. This could be with a new market operator or as a consortium of traders - we have put both options to the property management company acting on behalf of the freeholder. Please sign our petition to show your support for the traders, safeguard local livelihoods, and help restore Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market at the heart of our community. Every day the indoor market stays closed is another day our traders lose their livelihoods, their routines, and their connection with the customers who rely on them. This market isn’t just equipment, bricks and stalls, it’s people, families, and years of hard work. Let’s stand with them and show just how deeply Sutton Coldfield values its indoor market. Please sign to support Sutton Coldfield Indoor Market being reopened. Thank you.
