Henry Nowak was 18 years old. A first year accountancy and finance student at the University of Southampton, walking home from a night out with his football team on December 3rd, 2025. On Belmont Road he was met by a 23 year old named Vickrum Digwa, carrying a 21cm ceremonial blade across his chest. Digwa stabbed him four times. One wound went eight centimeters into his lung. Henry climbed over a fence trying to escape. There was already a blood trail on the street behind him. When police arrived, Digwa told them he had been racially abused. Henry told them he had been stabbed. He told them he could not breathe. The officer told Henry he was under arrest on suspicion of assault. Henry repeated that he had been stabbed. A voice on the body cam replied, "I don't think you have, mate." Henry drowned in his own blood on Belmont Road in handcuffs. By the time CPR began his lungs were already full. A doctor flew in by helicopter. There was nothing left to do. The knife was at the killer's mother's house. She had walked it home. Henry's phone, the one he had filmed the whole encounter on, was in Digwa's pocket. All of this came out in Southampton Crown Court last week. The bodycam was played to the jury. This is sworn testimony in a live murder trial. A teenager was killed by a man who then told the police the teenager was the racist. The police arrested the boy who was bleeding out instead of the man who had been carrying the blade. Whatever you believe about institutions, that is what happened on that street. Henry Nowak. I condemn the deadly attack on a mosque in San Diego. My thoughts are with those affected. I know many Muslims in the UK will be shaken by this, worried about their safety when going about their lives and attending mosque, and what it says about the times we’re living in. I understand those fears. Violence like this does not happen in a vacuum. It grows in an environment where division and anti-Muslim hostility are normalised. That is intolerable. We must all come together against it.

The ex-Christian is not existentially disoriented, because the cultural air he breathes remains Christian, even if God has been removed from the equation. He does not need to rebuild the world. The world he lives in was already built by Christianity. In that sense, the ex-Christian remains Christian, whether he likes it or not. By contrast, when a Muslim leaves Islam, he inevitably begins to build his new morality upon the foundations that Christianity laid and the West later globalized, whether he realizes it or not. Concepts like freedom of conscience, intrinsic human dignity, the moral status of women, and the rejection of coercion in religion are not neutral, universal values. They are historically Judeo-Christian values, developed through centuries of theological, legal, and cultural evolution in the West. If that same ex-Muslim remains in, or is surrounded by an Islamic culture, the dissonance becomes unbearable. Because he is now internally structured by one moral system, but externally surrounded by another that is categorically antithetical. When a Christian leaves Christianity, he leaves a room and stays in the same house. When a Muslim leaves Islam, he is exiled from the house entirely.

Alla dessa personer var kristna och samtliga fick avslag på sin asylansökan och de skulle lämna landet omedelbart. Elever från Mellanöstern tyckte att de var bra att de kristna blev utvisade, jag ifrågasatte detta och fick då till svar, vi ska ta över ert land och hela Europa, inte genom krig utan genom att våra kvinnor ska föda så många barn som möjligt och när vi kommer i majoritet så är länderna deras, det står i avtalet som alla muslimer har vetskap om. Det var då som jag fick vetskap om Barcelonaavtalet och dagen efter fick jag läsa originalet på detta fruktansvärda avtal, ett landsförräderi anser jag. I slutet av nittiotalet. Detta skedde samtidigt som många analfabeter från ett speciellt land fick PUT (permanent uppehållstillstånd). Alla från Mellanöstern fick också PUT, när jag ville diskutera detta så fick jag till svar; att eftersom jag bara var lärare, så kunde jag inte förstå varför vissa fick stanna medan andra fick lämna landet. Jag ifrågasatte varför ALLA kristna fick avslag, trots att de var högutbildade och lärde sig vårt språk och vår värdegrund, medan analfabeter fick stanna kvar.
