@Brian_Kelly19 In box we still go side to side all the time. Full sized box nets, 3vs3 with full changes from the blue line. Everything is quick and tight. No room to run. Pass, pick, change.

@Brian_Kelly19 Small goals (box or a field net flipped to a triangle), small playing surface (side to side). Lots of touches. Doesn't matter if it's field, box, or a school gym. No goalie....play with a tennis ball, player in net. We finish almost every box or field practice with this.

Hypothetical: You’re a field coach that wants to get as many skill building benefits as possible from box lacrosse but you have to make a choice — 1) Box rink with 6x6 goals 2) Regulation sized outdoor field with box goals and box goalie pads Which option do you choose? Why?
Brian Kelly@Brian_Kelly19

A couple thoughts regarding box lacrosse as a player development tool: 1) Simply playing box is a big step in the right direction. 2) Having a coach that understands why box makes better field players, and how to apply those ideas to any setting, is what you really should be looking for.

@Brian_Kelly19 Great as part of a program/practice, especially for introducing new players, but I think it underestimates what 10-year-olds are capable of. The column references Canadian Box Lacrosse as "the difference", well, we are using gear and rubber balls well under 10.

Who is/was an amazing lacrosse player that a lot of player’s may not know? I’ll go first; Mark Stienhouse. Dude was an all around bad ass and didn’t start playing lax until he was 17. Unreal player and competitor.

@AlexJSarama This is what I would usually call a "drill killer." A player who runs back through the drill ruining the next player's turn. Using it as part of the drill to add a decision-making element is great! Gonna try it this week for lacrosse.

Here’s an easy way to transform 1 on 0 finishes. Add a permanent defender in the smile (here it was me) and use offensive players as extra defenders as soon as they have gone. Instead of immediately getting out to space, they hang around and act as secondary help/ stunt defenders

"Why do players perform well in drills but struggle in games? Often, the answer is representativeness. Many drills remove key game info, while full matches don’t provide chances for them to explore the skill So how do we fix this? Let’s talk about the Task Simplification 👇🧵

How many times do youth lacrosse players get told they can’t pass/shoot/pick up a GB etc…a certain way, but then that same skill is applauded when it happens at the college/pro levels? Why do we have this double standard? Why do we stifle higher order thinking & creativity in young players by insisting on learning certain ‘fundamentals’ first? You don’t actually have to teach rigid techniques (that often don’t even work in many game situations) before allowing players to explore other ways of solving movement problems. Evidence-based information is available to any coach who is curious enough to look for it…..

First of all, I’m not the author of this proposal. Credit to @realDonaldTrump, @JDVance & @SpeakerJohnson. Second, this is a MUCH better bill that is closer to being a real continuing resolution (not an omnibus masquerading as a CR), but with support for hurricane victims & farmers, as well as a reasonable extension to the debt ceiling. Clean & simple. If Dems reject this & government shuts down, they deserve to lose bigtime in the midterms.

.@RepJeffries: "The Musk-Johnson proposal is not serious. It's laughable. Extreme MAGA Republicans are driving us to a government shutdown."
