@ole_was_right But if and when the option is taken up, I think 50% of the transfer fee goes to the player. Similar thing happened with Fred when his option was taken up and sold one year later.

The initial loan piece is interesting. Last year of his contract with an option to extend. We will have to amortize the last of his book value anyway. So, triggering the extension would put him in a “pure profit” selling position next season. I haven’t seen any discussion on a loan fee, so it may be that this is how the club intends to mitigate losses. There could be some cute contractual language in the agreement— but suggesting as much would be pure speculation on my end, so I won’t go into it here.
