the ability to enjoy your life is the most important thing. not about having a good life or making your life great, but the capability to appreciate it. sounds easy but its actually the hardest thing.

@Swarooprm7 If we changed the core objective from usefulness to long horizon reasoning, which part of the stack would need to change first, the data, the reward signal, or the deployment constraints?

The more I understand the LLM stack, the clearer it becomes how deliberately the underlying distribution is shaped in multiple ways. It would be intriguing to consider how these design choices might differ in a parallel universe with alternative objectives and constraints.

Prof. Amey Karkare (DoRA, IIT Kanpur)
We are proud to share that our distinguished alumnus Prof. Mohit Bansal (BT/CSE/2008) has been named a 2025 Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in recognition of his significant contributions to multimodal NLP foundations, faithful language generation and summarization, and model interpretability methods. The Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL), USA is the leading international, top-tier conference and professional association for NLP and language processing (incl. LLMs) research. Through its Fellows program, ACL honours members whose work demonstrates exceptional scientific and technical excellence, service to the community, and broader educational or outreach impact. This prestigious recognition reflects Prof. Bansal’s impactful work in computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. We warmly congratulate Prof. Bansal on this remarkable achievement and wish him continued success in his academic and research journey. #IITKanpur #AlumniPride #DistinguishedAlumnus #ACL #IITKanpurAlumni #GlobalImpact

@_arohan_ @bcherny Thanks. I found Claude Code responses better than any other Claude agent served elsewhere. Just curious how.

@Swarooprm7 What do you mean? @bcherny maybe could answer. My understanding its a harness for claude models at a very high level. I don’t know the configuration or input/context/tool differences

I've been getting lots of academic job search questions from friends lately, so I put together my timeline, materials, and a few reflections + tips from last year. Hope it’s helpful! (Inspired by @MaartenSap's blog) akariasai.github.io/2025/11/25/job… TL;DR - Start early; job talks take longer than you think. - Schedule interviews strategically and protect your energy. - Leave yourself real time to evaluate options, including whether a gap year makes sense.

Great opportunity for students and AI enthusiasts in India: My old roommate and good friend @pulkit_verma just returned to India after completing postdoc from @MIT_CSAIL . He has joined @iitmadras as a faculty. Don’t miss applying to work with him. He is super strong and we have written papers together.

This shouldn't work... but it does! Researchers are now directly optimizing policies using LLMs, and here's the fascinating part: every policy update is fully interpretable because the LLM explains its reasoning before outputting new parameters. You can even jumpstart learning by feeding it domain knowledge (like a table tennis strategy guide), so it doesn't start from scratch. Super cool work presented last week at #NeurIPS2025 by Yifan Zhou, Sachin Grover, Mohamed El Mistiri, @KamaleshKali777, Pratyush Kerhalkar, @Swarooprm7, Neelesh Kumar, Sanket Gaurav, @aranoya and @asurobot This made me think: we need a conference dedicated to "improbable solutions that actually work." I'm proposing ICDE: the International Conference on Defying Expectations. 😉 What counterintuitive approaches have you seen succeed in your work?

Highly recommend to apply and work with the awesome @YiTayML and friends. This team is going to do some cool research in future, don’t miss it if you are in Singapore!

Happy to share that the @GoogleDeepMind Gemini team is starting a new research team in Singapore! This new team will be focused on advanced reasoning, LLM/RL and improving bleeding edge SOTA models such as Gemini, Gemini Deep Think and beyond. 🔥 This team will be led by yours truly and reports up to Quoc Le (@quocleix)'s broader team in Mountain View which was recently in the center of both IMO gold medal and ICPC gold medal breakthroughs with Gemini Deep Think, amongst many other significant Gemini advancements. 🚀 We’re starting out with a very small but intensely capable force because talent density is key over anything else in the LLM era. Over the past few months, we have gone around and gathered the best of the best talent (in the region and beyond) and I’m confident we’ll have a super cracked team very soon. If you are interested in joining and have made truly exceptional contributions in any domain or area, (engineering and/or research etc) please contact me. This is quite an exciting time, with the Gemini / GenAI team at Google Deepmind leading the charge at the frontier. This is also the best opportunity to be on the critical path to AGI from the sunny island of Singapore. 🏝️ Many thanks to leadership support from @quocleix @JeffDean @benoitschilling, @EugenieRives and @demishassabis for the support of this team. Thrilled to share that @annadgoldie and I are launching @RicursiveAI, a frontier lab enabling recursive self-improvement through AIs that design their own chips. Our vision for transforming chip design began with AlphaChip, an AI for layout optimization used to design four generations of TPUs, data center CPUs, and smartphones. AlphaChip offered a glimpse into a future where AI designs the silicon that fuels it. Ricursive extends this vision to the entire chip stack, building AI that architects, verifies, and implements silicon, enabling models and chips to co-evolve in a tight loop. We sat down with WSJ’s @berber_jin1 to discuss Ricursive: wsj.com/tech/this-ai-s…
