sharing the juicy stories let's explore life's gist together, with a dash of 😊☺️

I've been seeing the whole trend around Mercy Johnson's menstrual kit, and it doesn't feel right. We're at a time where countries are advocating for cheaper pads or even making it free. So, it feels a bit odd to start making pads more expensive. If she wanted to create that book for people to buy, it's fine (and honestly needed). But, menstruation is not something chosen by the girl child, so I don't really see why pads should be made a “luxury item.” It should be made more affordable or even free, especially for younger girls who can't afford them. Before you guys talk about her target audience, please ask yourselves: how many ladies in Nigeria can actually afford to get the package sustainably for the next 12 months? Bear in mind that a lot of people are earning less than 50k monthly, and still have to take care of parents and children. Including the girls this package is meant to be for. At the end of the day, it's mostly influencers and celebrities that would buy this package. Not the people who supposedly need it. Then tomorrow, if we raise the issue of making pads free, we will hear, “but a woman like you is selling pads for 25k.” Personally, I think the solution will be to create another package. One with just the pads, and then the 25k own. P.S. no one should insult me o. If you have the money, go and buy. But don't deny the truth. This is classism.
