New paper out! Environment determined biomass, absolute respiration and growth of microbes in a temperate grassland gradient. But microbial C use efficiency was best explained by microbial community composition. Both these factors need to be considered in macroscale SOC dynamics!

Maize growing (or not) on compacted suboil in ROCSUB project (agroscope.admin.ch/agroscope/en/h…) The maize from the compacted subsoil had a hard time during this wet spring compared to the maize from the loosened subsoil! And check out the willow trees growing behind the maize line :-)
