78 years ago, 800,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes. Britain made it possible. Today, Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Britain made it possible. 78 years of the Nakba - and 78 years of British complicity in crimes against the Palestinian people.

12 Monkeys is an excellent sci-fi film that tackles time travel intelligently while also giving way to great performances from two of my favorite actors ever- Brad Pitt & Bruce Willis. This nabbed Pitt his first Oscar nom, deservedly so given the things Pitt pulls off here.

Congrats to Carrick, fantastic player for the club, great servant who stepped up under difficult circumstances after Amorim was “reluctantly” let go by Ratcliffe/Berrada/Wilcox for publicly chastising them. My issue with this hire is the process. I hope to see an open press conference from Wilcox and Berrada explaining their process, the candidate profile, what sort of head coach they wanted, and how Carrick fit their profile. This is Ineos’ 4th evaluation of a manager (interviewing managers right after the FA Cup and keeping Ten Hag, firing Ten Hag and hiring Ruben, firing Ruben and hiring Carrick as interim (over Ole and RvN who were both interviewed, hiring Carrick as permanent). To me, they don’t seem to have a process. During their first evaluation they hired managers of all different ilk. They then kept EtH only to fire him early. They then decided on Ruben who was completely different to EtH and the managers they had interviewed, they then interviewed 3 ex players, and now interviewed no one but “considered Emery and Iraola”, both also different from each other and Carrick. Where is the central theme to this, the over arching plan. We were told by Jim that they would choose the style, and the manager would implement it. What’s the style, what’s the approach. In the NFL, NBA etc, when big time hires are made, those that do so face open press conferences and explain their rationale, their thought process. This is their 4th decision and we have yet to have an open press conference. Where is the accountability regarding these decisions? Lastly, Carrick as interim and how he managed cant be 100% extrapolated to Carrick the permanent. The task and job of an interim is very different. It’s maximizing results without necessarily a long term approach or embedding a structure. Just get points is often the mantra. Carrick benefited from a game a week and a very low bar to clear (Amorim reset all bars ever associated with Man Utd). What makes him right candidate? Support Carrick, but question the process and the thinking of those above him, what have they shown us to have any faith in them.

D’accord.

Ronaldo was an egomaniac, but I never felt like he was actively playing against the teams best interests. And he always rose the occasion. Mbappe, somehow, is an even bigger egomaniac, and it categorically feels like he is playing against the teams best interests.
