What every pipeline should have: 1. Input validation (row counts, schema checks) 2. Output validation (expected vs actual data) 3. Idempotency (safe re-runs without duplication) 4. Logging + alerts (fail loudly, not silently) 5. Monitoring dashboards (basic visibility)

Your data pipeline is running. But that doesn’t mean it’s working. One of the most dangerous problems in backend systems: Silent failures. → ETL job “succeeds” but processes partial data → Missing records go unnoticed → Data gets duplicated → Downstream systems use corrupted
