Marathon's a great game, but IMO it will need an alt mode(s) for players to enjoy outside of the core loop long term. The free kit mode is a fun experiment so far and good example of that.

@apathei Don't think they can afford to drag info without tangible content at this point. I know people want something, but I could see people getting drips now and finding more to be upset about in terms of updates taking long etc.

@apathei I definitely think it could be a combo of having lots they want to discuss and wanting to condense the window close to the June content release to create opportunities for a wave of chatter and interest around D2 and some ounce of excitement (granted it's good news).

My best guess, based on Bungie's history, is we'll see their marketing campaign spin up for the Major update earliest next week, but more likely the week of May 28th. June Major Update is scheduled for June 9th if I'm not mistaken...

An experimental PvE mode coming in Season 2 of Marathon. As someone who enjoys the current gameplay loop, it'll be nice to have some variety to the game modes to mix it up throughout a season.

@denlurn I know with the lack of information and comms it's easy to throw out expectations based on the current mood. Personally I'm saving my conclusive thoughts if/when a blog gets posted. If I genuinely felt like you described, it'd make sense I just moved on instead of lingering imo.

@UpdateGuyofm 100% it is literally the middle of May so I'm not gonna argue that. My personal expectation which I've communicated since the June 9th date was announced is consistent with my OP. I'd also keep in mind these kind of updates aren't limited to TWIDs so could be any day/time.

@SycKnight I'll let you in on a secret, since you don't get it. No one looks at the graphs for single-player games, but for an online game, they do. Even more so IF THE DEVELOPER DOESN'T PROVIDE THE ACCURATE DATA. And do you know why they don't provide them?? BECAUSE NO ONE IS PLAYING 🤣😂

@PaulTassi Both will get time. Destiny likely more-so to answer the question, but I don't think that necessarily speaks negatively on Marathon for me personally. I engage with each game differently based on my own interests and time.

Just curious, if Marathon season 2 and Destiny Shadow and Order or whatever it’s called now drop in the same week, which would you prioritize?
