Enough of the fake accents. I want to hear in-flight announcements with thick Nigerian accents.

Akwa Ibom is proof that even if you have a lot of money, without strategy you’re just a little above the poorest of the poor. The difference is time. Because what’s this obsession with building new, big things every year when the old ones remain in a dilapidated state?
Mayor Of Uyo@Sami_incredibl

Also, an MRI machine this size triggers medical tourism around that region and maybe even beyond the region. But guess who's building another 'ultra modern hospital' when both Ibom Specialist and UUTH are both understaffed, underpaid and under equipped while chasing tourism???

What good is road construction when: A. Akwa Ibom has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country (if not the highest). B. We are the only state in the country to own a GenCo. In fact, we supply a lot (or most) of the National Grid’s power. But still suffer the most power outages. C. Free and fair education is non existent. You can argue that Umo Eno is building schools, but I can also make similar arguments that MANY public schools are badly depleted, numbers of children hawking on the streets are increasing, teachers and lecturers’ welfare is nothing to write home about. D. Healthcare in the state is depleting. Our hospitals are neglected, under-equipped and medical staff are grossly underpaid. E. Cost of living in the state is increasing exponentially, vis a vis the actually depleting standard of living in it. The private sector is stagnated, and the public sector is filled with political sycophants. These are just few bullets but I can keep going on and on and on. See, Akwa Ibomites are not stupid to demand more than the barest minimum. For such an oil rich state, our bragging rights CANNOT be that we’re building roads, in this day and age. They’ll point you to the international airport, or how many new airbuses have been added to Ibom Air. And I’ll ask you what good those are if the very citizens of the state cannot afford to fly those air buses. I, a citizen of the state, have to fly Value Jet to Calabar and then take a road trip to Uyo, because Value Jet gives you about 40% less on the SAME duration in the air. And I’m expected to applaud Ibom Air for new airbuses? I don’t like to comment on these issues because I don’t like going back and forth with people I actually respect, but let’s be properly guided please.

@ThinktwiceDark1 Thanks for this take 👏. We dont get that you don’t measure development by just a project on ground but on the best possible value that could be gotten from the resources at hand. Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa have no business being as underdeveloped as they are

lol sha go outside and touch grass. Is it market square or good roads that Abia doesn’t have now? Can Uyo as a capital boast of 16-24 hours light currently? What economic activities can the city boast of? What is the standard of living of people in Uyo, when compared to those in Abia? What is the employment rate? Life is more than market square an street lights that don’t even come on at night

lol Sifon, please. We went to school for a reason. This isn’t a mediocrity contest between tribes. If some Yorubas choose to overlook bad governance out of tribal sentiment, I won’t reduce myself to that level. I didn’t spend over 21 years in school just to blindly defend our leaders. A society only progresses when its citizens hold leaders accountable constructively. That’s the whole point of democracy. Otherwise, we might as well pack up and accept a military dictatorship. Check through developed countries, one thing is common, they do not have docile citizens. We are where we are as a state because sycophancy is our paymaster.
SB 🇻🇦@Sifon_Bassey

Yoruba people have clocked the game, and are fighting back. Akwa Ibom people are joining them to insult their own. Bastions of good governance, I greet you all 😂😂

Bro come on nau. In big 2026? With the kind of money Akwa Ibom State makes every year? Come on🙂 I’m not even going to compare the two governors but Akwa Ibomites are not dumb for demanding more than the barest minimum.
SB 🇻🇦@Sifon_Bassey

Umo Eno is bad but he has completed 31 Arise Model schools and will commission another 31 by May. Over 1000km of road construction projects on going, with over 250km to be commissioned by May. Different projects in different sectors in ALL LGAs but keep insulting your own.

Akwa Ibom is one of the highest earners from federal allocation as an oil-producing state. Yet your governor convinced you he needed to join APC so he could secure the Ibom deep sea port project Only to end up in a welcome committee, chasing presidential optics. Meanwhile, Alex Otti is building real industries and changing Abia’s trajectory. One is governance. One is performance art.

I don’t think we understand as AkwaIbom people how crazy it is, that some people are fighting to defend the superiority of AkwaIbom over Abia( a one time most scorned state in Nigeria). All it took was just one visionary and focused man to be elected by the people.
