Fuck it. I will listen to every single David Bowie album this month. And put my thoughts in this thread. We’re doing chronological.

@Jen_HPP I swear John Peel recorded fucking everybody, he was such a goat.

For some reason I thought Pink Moon has the same backing instrumentation as Five Leaves Left, it doesn’t, which is a truly great thing. Love it. The only time I feel the strings really work on Five Leaves Left is ‘Man in a Shed’ the bass on that is ridiculous.

@Jen_HPP I wont yuck your yum though, you should check The Peel Sessions out if you haven’t genuinely one of my favourite recordings of all time.

@Jen_HPP I love the songs on that album without the strings, as you can hear partially in The Peel Sessions and partially in the Family Tree versions.

@Syncophated fairs. I can't write lyrics or sing so idek. to me thats just the type of thing that im unwilling to dedicate time to. but the other stuff is fun and easy. I guess people are just different

@chlouds121600 I can write lyrics well enough, and I can sing pretty well. Feel like I’ve got so many things I’m juggling that dedicating a large amount of time to something new feels untenable.

I am a self destructive pattern. I don’t exist outside it.

If I can’t do something I like perfectly I abandon the endeavour altogether and if I can I get no joy from sharing it with others. I don’t know why.

I should probably learn guitar huh. My music teacher when I was 12 was so fucking awful it put me off it.

@BecomingDevil I used to listen to the radio a lot but I’m too much of a music fiend now.

Converted three of my friends (minimum) to listen to the news on the radio in the morning on a daily basis

I’m being a bit semantic, really a clarifying “Art when exploring or using sexual themes/imagery should be more focused on eroticism not horniness” would be fine.

I think this whole conversation is a remarkably silly way to view something as broad and nie undefinable as Art.

@chlouds121600 The Raven’s goated, a poem about a guy who refuses to acknowledge his dead lover so hard that his repressed grief manifests as a Raven who harasses him into acknowledging his grief.

Does ‘Lord of the Game’ by Death Grips interpolate ‘The Raven’ by E.A Poe?

@chlouds121600 I think it’s cool so I’m gonna say interpolation. Although the Death Grips line is more to do with paranoia whereas The Raven is about ignoring grief.

@Syncophated I mean idk I feel like they're both descriptions of common paranoid experiences, a picture of someone knocking at your door is fairly common, a horror trope, etc. I think in some capacity that sort of thing could be influenced by the raven but I think it could easily be...
