You'll bring: 🔹 Strong Scala with production experience using an effect system (Cats Effect, ZIO, Akka/Pekko) 🔹 Hands-on experience with event-driven systems in production 🔹 Deep understanding of Apache Kafka — partitioning, delivery guarantees, consumer groups, rebalancing, lag 🔹 Practical Kubernetes knowledge (pods, resource limits, autoscaling, networking) 🔹 Comfort with both SQL and NoSQL, and a clear sense of their trade-offs 🔹 Hands-on use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in daily work Bonus points for: ✅ JVM internals — GC, profiling, heap and thread dumps ✅ Observability with OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, structured logs and metrics ✅ Cloud experience on Azure and/or GCP (AKS preferred) ✅ Java or Rust, open-source contributions, event sourcing / CQRS What you'll do: 🔹 Design architectures for processing and storing high-volume event data 🔹 Build backend software where performance and reliability are non-negotiable 🔹 Diagnose and troubleshoot in distributed, event-driven systems 🔹 Collaborate closely with backend, QA, and Infrastructure teams Know someone who'd thrive in this role?
