@_captainscience @HisenseUK A wooden one, like this. Lasted as long as as the door qualityfittings.co.uk/cup-pull-woody…
English

@_captainscience @HisenseUK You can sometimes invert the door so it opens from the other. Failing that, for a decade or more I glue Von a wooden drawer handle with Araldite.
English

@HisenseUK my fridge is less than a year old and the cheap plastic handle has snapped off. Apparently it's not under warranty and a new one is >£50.
Pitiful.

@CarlSmytheCells @MrBoltonPTpage This is not me, and for obvious reasons I won't be sharing the pics of my shingles but this is the dermatome. I can't exactly leave it uncovered and every time I move my soft t shirt feels like a burning hot grater. I'm feeling rather sorry for myself.

English

@Leicnut Sad that even Robinson's are getting in on it. Even if it did help immunity there's probably too little to do anything
English

@_captainscience @Lego_Scientist I only had it for a day or two, It's horrid. Good old acyclovir
English

@Lego_Scientist Unfortunately, yes. GP has prescribed acyclovir.
English

@_captainscience @gentillapin If it is pure urushiol based, it is supposedly soluble in acetone (but also ethanol— I would have thought IPA would dissolve it too) and benzene. I would think toluene would work unless of course it has begun to polymerise. Very powerful skin irritant too.
English

@gentillapin I have learnt that the proper traditional way is super complicated but that acetone will act as an effective thinner.
English

@DrDuaneRD @ggkuhnle For some reason I have had this page open for months. If true, their reuse of waste is remarkable

English

@ggkuhnle Years ago I tried tablets from Heslthspan that guaranteed 5 billion bacteria. I found it really upset my guts. Perhaps because I am on PPI so more bacteria will survive the gastric acid
English

@Synthon61 @Hippiepig I did not know that. You are a mine of information John. :-)
English

That smug face says it all. Evil genius.
Opportunistically uses the pandemic to get loads of people to know about his app. And get a sodding gong, even though it was useless.
Spread fear and misinformation about diet. Inappropriately advocate the use of CGMs for non-diabetics.

@_captainscience @Hippiepig Of kombucha? Good for producing mycelial leather-like fabric!
English

@_captainscience @Hippiepig There's a fair amount of evidence that selected lactobacillus strains survive stomach acid and affect the gut but not many, if any, seem capable of establishing a long-term niche
E.g.: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25707300/
English

@Hippiepig How do you know it was the yoghurt?
How many of the live bacteria survive pH 1-2 gastric acid?
What evidence is there that these supplements work?
English

@_captainscience @Hippiepig Perhaps it's because I'm on a PPI but I find many of these live cultures upset my tummy (Yet to try kombucha)
English

@Hippiepig Not definitive, this is just a grift.
There is so much about the microbiome that we don't know. And the fact that these have to be taken on a regular basis (Yakult certainly does) shows that they don't change the microbiome long term.
Yakult is derived from gut (shit) bacteria
English

@MatthewJDalby True but why no mention of walking clubs? The Ramblers" have a wellbeing walks programme

Gardening is great for many things but it's not an alternative to medicine and effective treatment.
The Times and The Sunday Times@thetimes
Job centres and bosses will refer people to therapy or running and gardening clubs to keep them well enough to work in an attempt to tackle long-term sickness in the benefits system ⬇️ #Echobox=1703882950" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.co.uk/article/life-c…

@ChemistCraig I once witnessed a so-called Clan Gathering procession in Edinburgh and I guess over half were Canadians paying feasance to a Clan chief whose ancestors chucked them off their land
English

@_captainscience No expert either but if you have a modern consumer unit with mictoswitches do you need a separate isolator switch?
