What an honour. Today I was awarded the @EAPCvzw Post-doctoral Researcher Award prize. It was a great opportunity to talk about my research on prognostication. Celebrate my colleagues. And highlight systemic challenges researchers face. #EAPC2026

Almost 85% of people over 50 have no future care plan. This week (04 - 10 May) is Dying Matters week, and we are raising awareness around end of life care. Free advice & resources on end of life planning: agecymru.wales/information-ad…

'People expressing a wish to die may be experiencing treatable depression, loneliness or feeling a burden' - Our Forum article on danger of ignoring public health in context of the assisted dying bill cited in @UKHouseofLords debate @KeeleyMP @jimmcmanusph

THIS IS CHILLING: Lord @Mark_J_Harper is rightly anxious that vulnerable people may stop seeking medical help if they think doctors could raise assisted suicide instead of focusing on healthcare. This risk must not be ignored.

I love data. I hate spin. Here's the truth about the Lords' serious scrutiny of the Assisted Dying Bill: ❤️🔥 Over 60 peers have tabled amendments^ ❤️🔥 160 speakers at Second Reading, 132 in Committee ❤️🔥 71% of peers attending the debates ❤️🔥 Over 40 peers speaking every week ❤️🔥 Average speech length: 4:59 ❤️🔥 Just 2* speeches a week exceeding 10 minutes * average, excluding Lord Falconer and the Minister. Most of these were from those opening the debate on large groups of amendments where the speaking time is longer. ^First Marshalled List. Sponsor Lord Falconer has tabled 69. As @ddhitchens points out if every sitting peer did as he did the amendment total would be 58,443

Thanks @NewStatesman for publishing my letter and thanks to palliative care doctors like @ProfMarkTaubert for challenging the legislation
