Take a 250ml bottle of rum and choke it full of (lighly washed) lime peels, add some lemon juice (preferably squeezed), a pinch of salt (about a teaspoon), and about two tablespoons of honey. Let the mix run down your throat slowly, that mix will “burn” out anything in your trachea/esophagus region and that will usually be enough to not let the “cold” settle in or even stop it if it’s not too serious. I’d suggest you drink about half of the 250ml while letting it all slowly drip down every part of your mouth and esophagus. This solution has worked for me the last several times iv’e started to develop a throatache or sniffle.

Unless it’s a prototype or early-civilization’s matrix, you probably wouldn’t notice anything further than maybe duplicate objects with configurations and textures that are too similar, ownerless highly valuable objects, or maybe objects placed in an impossibly unusual way. But if it’s a thing that’s been the same for the entirety of an entity’s existance, they would have no way to actually notice.
