@TheOGPurist_ Thats why I donate plasma instead. Get paid some for the trouble 💰

I stopped donating blood the day I found out it’s sold to public hospitals

Donated blood this Wednesday afternoon

This is so sad to hear @TheOGPurist_
However, let me try to explain simply what you pay for.
Firstly, no institution charges for "blood".
After blood is donated, it is screened for Transfusion Transmissible Infections, TTIs (HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Syphilis).
If you walk into the hospital to do these tests ordinarily, they will already cost almost as much as what you pay for a pint of blood already with cheap and simple point-of-care tests.
Now since these point-of-care methods aren't always reliable, WHO standards recommend specialised techniques to test for these TTIS.
In some advanced countries, they carry out molecular testing to detect these TTIs. But it's really expensive.
In Nigeria, we have to settle for ELISA which is the cheapest acceptable method and this will cost about 80-100k per TTI, that's 300-400k for the 4 in total depending on the facility. Gratefully, budgets have been put in place in Public institutions to subsidise MOST (not all) of this.
Secondly, blood bags aren't free or cheap.
Finally, the fact that two people have matching blood types doesn't automatically mean they are compatible.
The laboratory does a compatibility test to ensure there won't be a transfusion reaction. While this is extremely important it isn't cheap.
I'm not going to mention in detail the blood typing, fitness check on the donor, and the cost of providing a constant power supply to a blood bank because those are negligible compared to the others.
In reality, no blood bank can financially sustain itself and the cost of running a blood bank is covered by whatever profit is made elsewhere in the hospital.
Bottom line is that an average man cannot afford a unit of blood if they got billed in earnest accordance with the true cost. Imagine paying #500k for 1 pint of blood. LOL.
It's easy to judge harshly when you don't see what happens after your blood leaves. But that's a failure on our part to educate the public and especially you as a donor. I hope this makes even a slightest difference.
If you don't donate, what happens to the patient bleeding profusely on the operating table or the woman losing blood during her delivery when there's no time for them to get a donor? (Assuming they even have a donor).
PLEASE DONATE, HELP SOMEONE.

@BarcaUniversal Pep is leaving City
This might be the opportunity to test Halaand's loyalty to Man City

🚨 EVERY STRIKER BARCELONA IS TARGETTING TO REPLACE LEWANDOWSKI:
- Julián Álvarez is the dream target, but Atlético would demand over €100m and do not want to strengthen a direct rival.
- João Pedro is Deco’s main Plan B, a modern forward who can play as a 9 or 10, but Chelsea would also ask for a huge fee.
- Omar Marmoush has been discussed, and Manchester City could consider a sale, but he is not among Deco’s top priorities.
- Harry Kane would give Barça immediate goals and a Lewandowski-style profile, but he is happy at Bayern and his exit looks very difficult.
- Lautaro Martínez remains a familiar name for Barça, offering instant impact, leadership and proven goals at Inter.
- Dusan Vlahovic would be the easiest deal because his contract ends soon, but there are doubts about his fit and discipline.
- Victor Osimhen is a pure goalscorer, but Barça have concerns about the overall profile and the potential cost.
- Eli Junior Kroupi is the youngest and most “exotic” option, seen more as a future bet than an immediate starter.

@LaLigaMichael Improbable
But will love to see what he does with an aging squad that has no reinforcement strategy

Ahhh, so Pep is Rayo’s new boss?
Finally he decided to prove what he’s worth without tons of money at a dominant club. 👏🏽👏🏽😉

@FabrizioRomano His transfer to Barcelona was a mistake from all parties
Good thing he got to fix his relationship with Atleti in the end

Liverpool's Joe Gomez probably has a backflip celebration. But I guess we'll never know

@LaLigaMichael For barca I believe we need a striker with such an inflated market I would go the developmental route. You could compensate that with a good depth winger for Raphina. Also take Bernardo silva for free. He can play the 10 role.
