The Demons practice Wicca. They have ceremonial rituals and use symbolism. The Nevaehians are elementalist. They practice elemental magic in which they can control the 5 elements.

The Demons have red in their hair. Blood from fighting. The letters and numbers on Seth's racecar and the flames on his uniform. Evan's truck is also red.

For me it's The Balance by Neal Wooten. It took me out of my reading comfort zone, 3rd person POV past tense, and introduced me to 1st person POV present tense. The first time reading it I cringed. But I gave it a scond try and fell in love with the characters and story.
