@KelliHolden It's a very late reply, was taking an extended social media break. And absolutely, share, and let me know if the teachers you work with have any questions.

@TAnnalet I enjoyed your presentation on Cuisenaire rods several years ago. I am doing some work with teachers suggesting ways to use them and your slides are brilliant. Would it be possible for me to share those slides with staff? Giving you and Jennifer full credit of course.

A Deep Sense of Number Starting with Dots. Over 50 activities. Starting with a link to children’s intuitive sense of numbers through finger patterns and recognising small quantities that leads them to think mathematically, confidently and flexibly. bit.ly/deepsenseno

@TracyZager Happy birthday! I was following your tweets to see what was happening with new books that I might want for my collection. Whatever happened, we on the reader side really appreciate your work.

@giftedHKO I love your tasks, always check your website when I plan a new unit. With this said, unfortunately the struggle resonates with many of us here. I have great admin and wonderful students, and yet I also feel that this job is slowly destroying my health and I should do something.

@letsquitteachin In elementary cursive could be a wonderful LA/Art cross-curricular theme. Calligraphy in general can support fine motor development. Young kids also feel cursive is "special" writing, they pay a lot of attention to writing words in cursive, which can't be bad for memory.

Trying to find some options for part-time university studies and it's getting frustrating. Why is post-secondary education still focused on full-time ed? I can't be the only professional contemplating upgrading/career change. More education options needed for working adults.

Sum up Skeletons. An engaging way to think about number bonds to 10, skip counting and trading in. “Oh, if I trade this 9 I can get what I need to make 10’s so I can skip count.” @SilverSpryycbe

Number sense first! Always! Here's an idea I tweeted a while ago. Develop a sense of quantity before focus on procedures.

Parent conferences: Talking about math…T:we’re going to focus on subtracting in the millions. Me: how is that going to happen w/o losing the number sense? S: I get confused with all the 0’s. @mburnsmath @howie_hua I feel there is a disconnect between strategies and algorithms

Our departmental problem of the week is about kolam art, in honor of Diwali! I'm still getting the hang of making them but I made a little handout for kids for our version of the rules. Also, here's a short video I'm planning on showing: youtube.com/shorts/MmxCbHC…

@DavidKButlerUoA @coronaxious The speakers' reaction was clearly defensive, but you might have challenged a practice that he never questioned and just wasn't able to adapt on the spot. Wonder if he realises that with his question about anyone else needing time he put you into uncomfortable position.

@coronaxious Anyway I’m sure I’m overprocessing this. I just feel so very embarrassed and it hasn’t gone away yet.

I asked the presenter for 1 minute to think silently before raising hands to show which activity we plan to try. He asked the room whether they also wanted more time to think first. Nobody wanted to. That took 1 minute. I could have had my request and avoided being othered.

@DavidKButlerUoA @coronaxious Oh, and your post actually reminded me that I don't always stop talking to let people process. Not even when I ask questions, but when I do direct instruction. Thank you for this!
