This announcer needs to understand that the belt is not the top of the strike zone

When you swing up (intentionally) you are fighting gravity. Barrel goes down then up. Loopy. This is why we (former players and analysts who actually played at a high level) and not you or any other TikTok hitting guys say what we say about the art form that is hitting a baseball. When your hands start high and on plane with pitch, then work “down” through it with the hands, the barrel planes out and you match the plane of the pitch. (Launch angle) Now it kinda blows MY mind when someone who has never done it starts chirping saying we don’t know what we are talking about. Hitting is feel, and you can bring all the data you want, which is important to a certain extent, but, the feel of the bat going down through the zone is actually what allows the barrel to match the correct plane (launch angle for the nerds). Sure you can get away with a swinging up feel when guys are throwing 70. But try it when you facing 95. Good luck.

@JLucroy20 kinda blows my mind the trackman has been out for over 20 years and former players and analysts still say nonsense like swing down and backspin it lmao

@stephenjnesbitt @SamBlum3 All that nonsense and then to cap it off with yikes. I had to make sure this wasn’t a parody account. @grok explain to Stephen the history of the Texas Ranger Division founded by Stephen F Austin

The Texas Rangers installed a deeply controversial statue in their ballpark concourse this spring. And they aren't willing to provide answers as to why it's there. Yikes. Important work from @SamBlum3: nytimes.com/athletic/71975…

Offense scores 3 runs in 5 innings but every time we score Ga Tech answers. Ga Tech is just grinding out really good at bats

Anybody but Dowd and I would just say try to squeeze because we don’t get the ball out of the infield in these situations

@khchopchat Good point about the line drive to the pitcher. You definitely want to freeze there. But it looked to me like the ball hit the ground twice (just a very weak nubber). I never thought it was a line drive but I’m willing to give Chase the benefit of the doubt from that angle

@TB424 The thing is they couldn't really go on contact...especially Stuetzer since it wasn't gonna be clear if the pitcher would catch that ball on the fly or not from his angle...so he should have been a lil more cautious instead of just taking off.

Seen a lot of people point out Stuetzer. Most likely runners were instructed to go on contact (you have time to get back on a fly ball). The reason you go on contact is you want to force a play at the plate there. Worst case scenario is you have 1st and 3rd with 2 outs…..
Corey Clark@Corey_Clark

Now I know everyone is mad at Chase Williams. Fine. What he did wasn’t exactly textbook baserunning. But watch Stuetzer at second base. He just takes off to third like it’s an infield single. If Williams stays put, then what? Just rough all the way around. Yikes!

@ndioli74 Says a lot about both teams. Ga Tech is really good and FSU lost a one run game on the road, without their best player, due to a crazy play. Game 2 was tight until a misplayed fly ball

is stop. Give the pitcher time to throw to first and then get thrown out at home. If you’re running on contact, commit and make the pitcher make a good throw to the plate

Ideally Williams see it’s back to the pitcher and gets in a run down long enough to get the runner on first to second. But with a ball back to the pitcher there may not be enough time to mentally process that situation. But the one thing you can’t do……

Even with Bailey it seemed like the lineup had no depth. Credit to Link and the team (especially pitching) for being competitive and winning as much as they have but this lineup just isn’t FSU caliber. Link has to do better with talent acquisition

If your only real value is your speed you have to be smart on the bases. I honestly was surprised he didn’t get thrown out in between 2nd and 3rd on Stuetzer’s single. I’m not sure how in 2 years we went from Lodise hitting 6th in the lineup to Williams hitting 6th

Not going to Abraham after the first base runner got on cost us big that inning. Link even talked in the pregame about how Wes has not been as effective with a runner in first. Now add that to the fact that he was at 105 pitches. I don’t understand
