I started John Darnielle’s second novel this week, Universal Harvester. 50 pages in and it’s as curious and captivating as his first (Wolf in White Van). I’m enamoured and uncomfortable. Darnielle has a way of making me feel like a voyeur of someone else’s tragedy every time.
