@AlZeidenfeld @RotoSurgeon Look I generally agree with your point, but don’t pretend like it’s not tougher to maintain elite rates stats on higher volume. More pitches, more wear, more times through the lineup, etc.

@RotoSurgeon Your whole point is basically naming guys who didn’t have anywhere close to the rates that Skenes has, but because they pitched slightly more volume they’re better. You don’t really have a point here or a leg to stand on, man.

@D3_Guru09 @D3region10base I assumed they were Caltech level when I saw what my Sagehens did to them. 70 runs over 3 games (two of which were 7 inning mercies).

Ohtani is completely done for this season offensively. Legit every at bat that isn’t a strikeout is a ground ball. He is a ground ball machine. Nothing like ever before. His swing is ruined and he doesn’t know the strike zone

When I was first honored with the invite to join the UCLA Quarterback Club, three of my passions came together. UCLA, football, and public service. 💙💛 A thread on a special night and visit. 🧵

@IamDijami Based on percentages, it's Messi. Tougher to get solid data on Tiger, but you'd also want to know the specifics of the putt (break, pace, etc.). It's Messi - > Lebron -> Vinatieri, and I'm guessing Tiger is probably around Vinatieri's percentage.

If your life depended on it, which option would you choose? (All in their prime) 1. Tiger Woods to make a 6-footer. 2. LeBron James to make a free throw. 3. Adam Vinatieri to make a 50-yard FG. 4. Lionel Messi to make a penalty kick.

@STL_Stats_Facts Just look at what kinds of things they’re doing even at the youth and college level to improve velocity. More and more kids are getting the most out of their arms. Went back to my D3 alumni game and almost everyone throws as hard as our best guy did 15 yrs ago.

@jessica_erstad Was 13 during the series and went to 6 and 7. Until I married my wife and had my kids, it was the most joy I’d ever experienced. So grateful to them! Btw, met Darin several times at Cal Poly baseball camp as a youngster. Was a total class act and so good to the kids there!

Darin and I were just talking about the guys on this team. At the end of their careers they all went their separate ways, made their homes , got busy with kids etc. But what they accomplished that year gave them a special bond/friendship for life.

@notgaetti For what it’s worth, when i was a kid and regularly went to Angels games, I got 20+ Tim Salmon autographs. He was ALWAYS signing. More than any other guy on the team. I can’t say this other persons experience is invalid, but it’s not consistent with what I saw as a 5-10 y/o

@PerryIsMyGM Wow I never heard that! That’s too bad. I hate learning that great players I looked up to as a kid were ever assholes to people. Some of the all-time greats (Jim Thome comes to mind) were incredibly kind to kids.

Not enough people talk about Tim Salmon: • .282/.385/.498 (.884 OPS) • Same OPS as Harmon Killebrew • More WAR than Hack Wilson • Played for all 3 of CAL, ANA, LAA • Hit 30+ HR 5x, drew 100+ BB 6x • 1993 ROY, 1995 SS, 2002 WS Champ • Hit .346/.452/.615 (1.067 OPS) in the WS • Over an 8-year span from 1993-2000, batted .294/.396/.532 (.928 OPS) and averaged 34 HR, 112 RBI, 100 BB, and 315 TB per 162 games Not only was Mr. Angel a one-and-done on his only HOF ballot (receiving just 0.9% of the vote in 2012), he never even made an All-Star team! An injustice!

@KalleSorbo Chloe Kim is one of many winter olympians who grew up around LA. Local colleges do a ski beach day in the spring. We have multiple teams in multiple pro sports leagues, plus 2 Big 10 programs. Better food and culture and economy. And I say this as someone who loves Denver.

Denver is by all accounts the only city on earth with: -Teams in all four major American sports leagues -Thriving music and arts scene -An economy large enough for real enterprise and wealth building opportunity -Access to both Winter and Summer outdoor recreation with ease

@Puck_Line_Pro @alexaphilippou @SportsCenter She spent three years in Ames at her hometown school. I don’t see an issue with her trying to take advantage of her last year of eligibility by making a few extra bucks and/or going somewhere that has legit natty aspirations.

For those who would say Randy Bennett is too old at 63, this year's Sweet 16 includes Rick Pitino (73), Rick Barnes (71), and Tom Izzo (71), Kelvin Sampson (70) and John Calipari (67). Too old? No.

@RalphIrvinUCLA @DMAC_LA Ok I agree UCLA isn’t what it once was, but let’s not exaggerate. Even over the last 10-15 years, they’re in the top 20 (or better) in tournament wins, appearances, weeks in ap poll, etc. They’re just a “good” high major program. Acceptble? No. But cmon, they’re not a mid major.

No one loves UCLA more than me. I'm a proud alum. But the Bruins are a relic of the past. They haven't won a National Championship in 30+ years. They're the Notre Dame of College Basketball. Every now and then you think they're back, but they're not.

Mick Cronin on Tyler Bilodeau's injury: "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck since I came to UCLA. "My concern's for him, and his career and how it affects his teammates. Because I don't base my career off wins and losses — legacy is the most overrated thing in life."
