James Broadnax is scheduled to be executed next month. Now, in a written confession, his cousin says he’s the one who pulled the trigger. “My hope is that James will not be executed for committing acts that he did not do. I want to clear my conscience.” dallasnews.com/news/courts/20…

Ricks is the second person put to death in Texas this year and the 598th since 1982. TCADP is grateful to his attorneys for their advocacy and to everyone who raised their voices in opposition to his execution.

Texas has executed Cedric Ricks for the murders of Roxann Sanchez and Anthony Figueroa in 2013. His attorneys had asked the Supreme Court to intervene, arguing prosecutors violated Ricks’ constitutional rights by eliminating potential jurors on the basis of race.

Governor Kay Ivey has just granted clemency to Charles "Sonny" Burton in Alabama. Gov. Ivey is quoted by WSFA 12 News saying, "“I cannot proceed in good conscience with the execution of Mr. Burton under such disparate circumstances."
