Ovarian cancer patients can participate in clinical trials at any stage of their diagnosis. Clinical trials are research studies that test how well new medical approaches work in people with early stage or advanced cancers. They have a natural place in your care as doctors strive to improve current ovarian cancer treatments and search for new and better ones. Some clinical trials can even be non-invasive such as nutrition or lifestyle studies. Many patients don’t know that they can participate in these trials. Ask your healthcare professional about clinical trials or we can help match patients with studies that match their specific diagnoses and treatment history. Find out more here: #partnerhome" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">app.emergingmed.com/teal/home/#par…, or by calling 855-216-0103 or emailing TEAL@emergingmed.com. Mutations such as Lynch Syndrome, BRCA1, and BRCA2, can be carried by both men and women. In order to have a 50% chance of inheriting the same mutation, only one parent with the mutated gene is needed. Post menopause, decreased estrogen levels cause women to experience bone loss at a faster rate than men, leading to an increased risk of osteoporosis. Regular exercise can be key to building and maintaining strong bones, decreasing the risk of bone fracture, and improving general health. Many women diagnosed with ovarian cancer undergo a procedure called “debulking surgery,” which involves removing as much of the tumor as possible. If both ovaries are removed, this can lead to surgical menopause. Surgical menopause occurs because the removal of the ovaries leads to a sudden drop in hormone levels, causing symptoms similar to natural menopause. Learn more by watching our roundtable discussion about surgical menopause at youtu.be/bCKFQgwAOmE Remember to Tell Every Amazing Lady® #TellEveryAmazingLady #ovariancancer #WomensHistoryMonth #menopause #surgicalmenopause
