Dear TSA Members, We are pleased to announce that Carl (CJ) Roell has officially joined the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists as our new Director Governmental Affairs, effective today, January 5, 2026. Carl brings over a decade of experience in public policy, legislative strategy, and government affairs, including senior roles within the Texas Legislature and state agencies. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff and General Counsel to a state senator where he directed policy development, coordinated with stakeholders and lobbyists, and led a team of policy analysts. His previous roles with the Health and Human Services Commission, the Texas Facilities Commission, and the Texas Capitol have shaped a deep understanding of healthcare policy, state agency operations, and the legislative process; all highly relevant to TSA's mission. Carl will play a key role in representing TSA's interests at the Capitol, building relationships with legislators and stakeholders, and supporting the advancement of physician anesthesiologists and anesthesia assistants across the state. For those TSA members attending, we look forward to introducing him in person at TSA Days at the Capitol on January 25–26. Click here to register for TSA Days at the Capitol: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI… Please join us in welcoming Carl to the TSA family!
