I’ve always been kind of neutral on Dawn Staley from a likability standpoint. Obviously she’s an amazing coach & has been for a long time.
But what she did this weekend at the Final 4, showed who she is, consider me converted to a fan now.

Doubt Ben McCollum goes down this recruiting route, but would be interesting for him to tell portal prospects: I turned down a potential opportunity at North Carolina because we’re building something at Iowa.

@deal_addie @ChadLeistikow With the new CBA in the WNBA (and minimum salaries going from about $65k to $300k) you’re going to see a LOT more of this. Promising players aren’t going to stick around “hoping” for more playing time. With four years to make a name, no one is spending two spinning their wheels.

I hope his sister was injected with the Hawkeye love at Carver and on the tournament trail. That would be so fun to cheer on Cam next season then roll into Destiny in 2027.

Cam Manyawu on that fact that Iowa’s NCAA Tournament run gave joy to Iowa fans: “That’s what it’s all about: Bringing joy to everybody. It’s a game at the end of the day. So, making sure we have fun, bringing joy to our fans. I know that the program hasn’t been exactly where they’ve wanted. Just to come in year one and try and elevate it as much as we can and build off this and continue elevating even further.”

I thought Journey & Addie looked nervous yesterday in Iowa's game (on offense - shots just didn't look right). I have NEVER seen Journey look nervous, but that was a big stage & both of them are freshmen. I expect them both to be more locked in tomorrow & less nervous. 💪

Ben McCollum on how he thinks prospective high school and portal players will perceive Iowa, considering what the program is accomplishing this season: “If you’re a tough dude, this is a good spot for you. If you’re soft and you like yourself way too much, this is probably not the spot for you. We just try to recruit tough dudes that want to be part of something bigger than themselves, and hopefully people see that.”

Liked how Cory Close talked about the Big Ten in her postgame presser yesterday. She thanked the Big Ten for making her team who they are. Made them tough. Opponents got them ready. She didn’t say one thing about travel. No complaints just praise. That’s the way to do it. Her male counterpart could learn from her.
