wow, @RealMattlanta is bad at math. 9 months from the time Penix had his surgery is 8/22. That's right in the middle of preseason. Penix will be ready for training camp. QBs wear non-contact jerseys in the first place. And it's a 6-9 month injury now. Not a 12 month injury.

Falcons GM lied to soften the blow… Tua is the starter and his job to lose. Penix’s comeback just got tougher. 😲 "Tua will start at least four games, then Michael will have a chance to steal the job back if Tua underperforms. Sadly, it can easily happen with poor/lazy dry needling technique around the upper traps/periscapular region.

I have never heard of dry needling doing this
Hard to image they went that deep 🤯
And the surgery part to repair is even more surprising

@SportMDAnalysis FWIW, the actual rupture didn’t happen during the push off of the throw like you have circled. It occurred in the drop step of the right foot just before he gathered to throw.

Potential reason for more optimistic long-term outlook

@jmthrivept Bingo! Almost tweeted this exact same thing last week (but had to let my buddies draft him first 🫣). Saw another video from this same moment in the tunnel from the front & you could see his compensation to clear the foot. ROM definitely not there. Can’t find video now though 😞

Early heel rise on Left foot (ankle dislocation, deltoid lig, fib fx, surgery x2 side) compared to Right.
Doesn’t have +dorsiflexion (ankle ROM). Makes sprinting, cutting very difficult.
Not anticipating Godwin to be anywhere close to 100% until 2026.

@jamjks @jmthrivept It is also used for stimulating bone growth. Used a lot for a fractures with delayed healing or non-unions.

Doesn't explain the walking boot.

People make a big deal about not making a big deal about camp hype and utilization signs.
My favorite thing about camp are the videos of “long TDs!!” when there’s no contact allowed and the player would’ve clearly been down 10+ yards away from the end zone
