Brad Hawpe: "I remember being in Minor League camp, seeing Todd Helton and thinking that's a Hall of Famer one day."

Todd Helton may get elected to the Hall of Fame today. @DanEvans108 joined me and @BruceHaertl, and shared why Helton would not be on his ballot. Presented by STHMazda.com and CRMensHealth.com

If teams chose to pitch to Helton over Walker, that seems like a miscalculation on their part…

@BillyWagner4HOF Appreciate it. Hoping the best for Wagner as well!

@GreenfieldMax18 @AndThatsBB I’m hopeful that McCann will at least be able to survive year one, though even that might be unlikely with the Astros stuff. Martin’s case feels DOA and that’s unfortunate. Maybe the VC will do them right one day if/when the writers don’t.
English

@AndThatsBB @TH17HOF Yeah I mean, if you go by new age evaluation of catchers, Martin and McCann are two of the 15 best ever. Arguably two of the 10 best ever. Thats a HOFer imo!

Utley got insanely disrespected. It’s ridiculous to me that one on-field play at the tail end of his career has completely altered his image

@AndThatsBB @GreenfieldMax18 Almost a year to the day actually when I came to that realization

Who was better?
English

@AndThatsBB @GreenfieldMax18 I had assumed the same, but realized about a year ago when the discussions first started that people had a very different perception of Mauer and that they were going to have very different paths. Still mind boggling that Mauer has out performed him by this kind of margin though.
English

@AndThatsBB @GreenfieldMax18 I probably would’ve guessed he’d be around 20% year one. He deserves far more support, but this was a pretty great debut for him given he falls a bit short of the traditional standards. Good chance he would’ve been sub 5% just a few years ago.
English

@GreenfieldMax18 The way Utley was nationally revered when I was a kid through most of his time in Philly, and the way his advanced metrics paint him as a clear Hall of Famer, I thought he'd be around 50% year one
