Since I’ve been on a world tour, I hadn’t had the chance to watch it, but this morning, I finally got to see James Gunn’s “Superman.” It was good. It was neither dark nor stylish, cool or even “super.” The perspective of the audience—the distance and elevation—is different from the “Superman” we used to LOOK UP (into the sky) to. This film gently observes the human being Clark Kent and Superman as one and approaches him from the same human perspective. It’s a heartwarming “human” film. The movie itself wasn’t “punk,” but “Punkrocker” by Teddybears, with vocals by our very own Iggy Pop, played during the credits — that part was pure punk, and it was amazing.

Okay so that’s your view on it. And that’s fair enough but I disagree and I think making them more realistic actually makes the comic book characters more interesting. Rather than just silly superheroes for kids. I think Gunn was really close to making a fantastic superman film tho

I won’t lie, after seeing that small glimpse of her, I am not looking forward to her movie. She seems like a really annoying & obnoxious character.

If you replace Mr Terrific with Battinson in Superman (2025), that guy would’ve died. Be patient and wait for a Batman tailor made for this universe instead of urging Matt Reeves to compromise his vision. If you like Gunn’s Superman, why wouldn’t you also like his Batman?

@Sol_Kal91 @fortunato_xcx @bigmonkeong that’s a story credit, you can get those from advising (zack has one for WW despite only having one line of his in there). goyer was the only one who wrote the script and had sole screen writing credit, nolan provided a story outline. btw i like mos.

@fortunato_xcx @bigmonkeong Oh really? It wasn't co-written by him? Yes it was. He wrote the story with David Goyer and Goyer wrote the screenplay, the only difference is Goyer wrote the dialogue. Writing the story is still a big thing especially if officially credited by the WGA.

seeing complaints that Superman didn't show up in Jarhanpur, but it actually really worked for me. the fact that the mere Superman symbol on a child's flag galvanizes other heroes to help feels more relevant for our world—where Superman may not exist, but what he represents does.

@aspexile why? most of us grew up with them. we won’t necessarily like everything they’re in but, what’s the harm in giving it a shot?

I mean this with all due respect but saying “A lot of footage was shown in the trailers” is not real criticism for a film. I’ve seen that a lot with recent films and that should never enter the equation for a “review” You don’t have to watch those trailers. Just food for thought
