Great to be with @THanna81 and the @ExodusYWUK team at NorthsideYouth.co.uk yesterday to experience the inspiring work done with young people across Edmonton and North London, with its rich tapestry of social engagement, handy work, arts and crafts, sports and physical activities, study assistance, and interactive conversations and discussions. In such awe and admiration of the myriad of staff and volunteers who support these wonderful children and young people at this formative and vulnerable stage of their lives, and very happy to collaborate with them all through Exodus and its ethos of #Encourage #Empower #Enable.

I wonderful day of ministry at @StMarksLondon with: ▪️A joyous Eucharistic Liturgy during which we consecrated 25 Chanters and Readers for the parish. “…our role is to minister to the world, and to use every opportunity to reflect God‘s love and hope, that through them, others will see Him. ▪️ A festive welcome to young Mary to the family through her Baptism. ▪️A celebration of the eighth anniversary for the young families’ fellowship meeting. “Looking at the power dynamic within relationships, remember to be ready to wash feet as our Lord did.” ▪️Celebrating graduations and milestones of many of our wonderful young people. “We give thanks for the collaboration between family and Church which facilitates the development of such inspiring and impactful young people.”

A beautiful Crowning (Wedding) Ceremony at @SMAAMchurch this afternoon, with two of our wonderful spiritual children pronouncing their Marriage Vows, just authorised at our meeting of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church forty-eight hours ago, and used for the first time in the @CopticDiocese of London, and possibly around the world, today: Crowning Ceremony Vows We vow before the Lord of lords, His angels and saints, His holy altar, and before the clergy and all those present with us, to live a Christian married life that befits the Gospel of Christ. We commit ourselves to supporting one other along our journey of salvation, and to ensuring that our home shall be a house of prayer, a house of purity and a house of blessing, in accordance with the words of the Scriptures, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). We are committed to giving ourselves to one another through love, forgiveness, honesty, integrity, and patience, to enduring one other's weaknesses, and to wisely escaping any corrupt trappings of this world. We are committed to not allowing material possessions to become a source of conflict between us in any way, and to being satisfied and contented with what we have, ensuring that we nurture a relationship with one another filled with wisdom and love. We commit ourselves to raising our children with a Christian upbringing, and to being role models for them through good deeds, so that we may all be holy and blameless before God.

It’s after midnight, but it’s still May the fourth somewhere in the world, and I didn’t want the annual ‘break the internet’ opportunity to pass… I know…I know…He’s the bad guy…but just go with the moment…

This #MothersDay, we celebrate and give thanks for every biological, adopting, fostering and spiritual mother, and all those who may hold that space in our lives in any way, giving thanks for their boundless love and commitment, and their seemingly inherent selflessness. Today, we also pray for every mother suffering the loss of a child, at any stage of life, that our loving Lord and His mother may comfort them as only they can. A blessed me joyous #MotheringSunday to you all!

Returned late one evening and switched my television on to discover the end of the Richard Dimbleby Lecture, given by former @England manager, Sir @GarethSouthgate. Such a gracious and thoughtful person, and an example of encouraging and empowering leadership for young men and women alike, but in this lecture, focusing on young men, whom he sees as “…suffering…feeling isolated...grappling with their masculinity and with their broader place in society.” Some food for thought: “I saw the effects of the decisions I didn’t take.” “One of the most impactful things we can do for women is to focus on improving young men.” “We need leaders to set the right tone. To be the role models we want for our young men. We have to show young men that character is more important than status. That how you treat others is more important than how much money you make.” “Not everyone will win trophies. Not everyone will be at the top of their field. But everyone can live a life where they can constantly strive to improve. Where they can look back and say, ‘I gave my best, I stayed true to myself, and I made a difference.’ That is real success.”

On this International Women’s Day I give thanks for the many extraordinary women I serve, serve with and have served alongside for decades, and who have been at the heart and core of ministry, contributing to the thought, vision and implementation of so much that has been a blessing to so many, while also giving thanks for the holy and inspirational women who have been the bedrock of the Church and of society over millennia.
