@BrandonThornNFL Also curious to hear if you could see him as a Joe Tippmann type player in the NFL where he has G C flex and can work in zone schemes at either position.

@BrandonThornNFL Really curious to hear what your thoughts are on Slaughter moving to G in McDaniels OZ system. Feels like it could be interesting but a stretch in pass pro year 1. Though McD does a good job of avoiding 1v1s in the pass game.

Draft evaluation is about building the best possible bet from imperfect information. Consensus boards are a data point. Not gospel. Not nothing.

@BrandonThornNFL That's true, just found it interesting when he was such a dedicated OZ guy for the last 5ish years.

@THA_Duffman I'd imagine this will be a pretty multiple scheme that will evolve based on personnel

Ravens center concerns: Worth noting OL coach Dwayne Ledford went from Dalman to Neuzil (UDFA) last year. Jovaughn Gwyn followed him from ATL, the team signed Pinter and drafted Beerntsen in RD7. Wouldn’t be shocked if WK1 OC1 in BAL is one of those three.

@BrandonThornNFL Curious about your thoughts on coaches significantly switching very successful schemes/archetypes that they’ve coached previously.

@BrandonThornNFL I see this. But also had a question. Ledford has been THE OZ guy since he came to the NFL. But it looks like Bal is going to run a gap scheme between a Ben Johnson/NO understudy and Simpson/Ioane. Has he done that at the college level before.

Genuine question: How many pure college centers have successfully switched to full-time guard their rookie season?
bolt up ⚡️@ChargedNPC

@tylerjschoon This happens every draft, why challenge it now just because he’s not one of your preferred options? It happens every year. T to G. G to C. TE to FB. WR to TE or TE to WR. How is this any different

@BrandonThornNFL Yeah. I think it’s one of the more interesting drafts for that kind of thing. Funny one this year is that Kayden Proctor fits the mold of a GB stretch zone OL. Where one of the better ZBS fits is Bisontis doesn’t meet the agility standards. Curious if a zone team looks at Proctor

@THA_Duffman Having thresholds make sense, especially if the whole building is aligned on them. I think outliers should be considered but carefully. I always think back to the Parcells quote to the effect of, "Make one exception and next thing you know you have a team full of exceptions."

Going to do a casual Q&A for a bit this afternoon before I’m offline the Friday night through most of Sunday. Reply with OL/DL, draft, team-building, pass pro/run game, or scouting questions and I’ll answer the best ones here.

@ChrisLap_18 You didn’t answer my question. When’s the last time someone with those numbers busted? That’s the definition of “floor”. The athleticism raises the floor as much as it does the ceiling. Even if he never gets great technique he’ll still out athlete NFL tackles often

@THA_Duffman I’m not even saying Parker or Jacas will have better careers, there’s a higher ceiling on Lawrence than those guys but the floor is so much lower you fail to even acknowledge it and that’s why I’ve got Parker with a true 1st rd grade, Jacas with a 1st/2nd and Lawrence with a 2nd

I don't either. I'll use Malachi Lawrence's game from Cincy to change it up. There are too many exposures of his momentum coming to a screeching halt on contact. That's not the player that's winning in today's NFL. Fires up instead of out, so he's losing the leverage game from the jump. That's why it looks like he's playing on skates at the point of contact. His athleticism pops when it's time to chase but I'm not sure he can run the hoop. Questions about bend/flexibility. I'm always skeptical of prospects who get the postseason bump when zero games have been played. He was in the 100s on big boards in January. Ran and jumped like a cyborg and now we're talking 1st round.
Theo Ash@TheoAshNFL

I just don't see it. 51 Malachi Lawrence is a first round hopeful 9 Nyjalik Kelly is a likely UDFA I see more explosiveness and fluidity from Kelly

@ChrisLap_18 We’re talking about projection and athletic profile, one requires pretty extreme outliers to touch 10 sacks, and one that has guys pretty regularly very good pass rushers despite college profile. Give me the last player in the top 2 rounds with a 40” and 10’10+ jumps that busted

@THA_Duffman TJ Parker is a Junior brother and in a down year he had 5 sacks. In Malachi’s JR yr he also was a 5 sack guy so what are we talking about. We’re talking about a guy that’s a year older, significantly worse against the run and has less sack production cmon man

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show I’m throwing out Oweh like he’s a top 10 pass rusher in the NFL in pass rush win rate.

@THA_Duffman @KP_Show I’m really not, I’m throwing out guys with similar production, play style, frames and testing. You’re throwing out Oweh like he’s a star player lol He isn’t Khalil Mack or Hunter he’s a really good athlete that when he pins his ears back at times can get hot and win 2nd rd

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show For the sole reason that he went to Georgia behind Nolan Smith, Trayvon Walker (and Davis/Wyatt. And still put up 1 less sack as a Freshman than TJ Parker had as a Sr. Their production is pretty equal. 18.5 to 21.5 career. Their best years are almost identical.

@THA_Duffman @KP_Show I’d say 93rd percentile is pretty good, I probably undersold him not putting really well. I think he’s better than that, Johnson had 1 yr of production in college and was turned 24 in rookie yr Parker will turn 24 and has 3 yrs of 5+ sacks

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show You’re just throwing out wild .01% outliers for these guys. If I want, Malachi Lawrence has a lot of Daniel Hunter to his game. He’s got the measurables of Khalil Mack, very similar.

@THA_Duffman @KP_Show Parker is Bradley Chubb ish to me 3 down player good for 8-12 sacks a year. Jacas has some Verse to his game not as much pop but has 3 down potential another 8-12 sack a yr guy. Lawrence range is probably like 5-15 with less impact in the run game as a part timish player early on

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show Chub is the 150% outcome of what is possible for Johnson. Chubb is one of the players that overcame being an average athlete. Him and Suggs. TJ Parker is a long, long way from that tier.

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show Please explain how running a 4.7, sub 35” vert and a 10’ broad is “tested well”. Parker is a very physical player that plays hard. He’ll be a very solid as a run stopper. He might get to 7 or 8 sacks a year or two in a year. The upside is below. espn.com/nfl/player/sta…

@THA_Duffman @KP_Show You mentioned Oweh who has eclipsed 10 sacks once in 5 yrs and 2 teams he played for last season bucked at paying him… Parker is a 3 down player with production and also tested well and blew out the SR Bowl there’s more than 1 type of rusher

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show Ok 5 sacks is low. But I don’t see them topping 10 in a season. Just not athletic enough. Unless one of them pulls out a random Preston Smith year. But that kind of path is kind of the very high end outcome for both.

@ChrisLap_18 @KP_Show This is what I was waiting for. For you to list every down guys who are probably 5 sack NFL players every year. Parker is very poor man’s Jeremiah Johnson esque. Physical strength rusher without the power to beat NFL OTs. Looks great in college, doesn’t play in the NFL.
