Eskom says it began investigating the potential R21-billion diesel deal in March 2025, only two months after the contracts were signed to supply diesel to Eskom’s Ankerlig power station in Cape Town. In a disclosure to National Treasury, Eskom said it had appointed a company to conduct a forensic investigation without a tender because there was a “threat of serious damage to Eskom’s reputation. Therefore, early delivery is critical”. Since then, Eskom has been tight-lipped about the findings. In June last year, amaBhungane and Netwerk24 began asking questions about the contract, which Eskom refused to answer. Then, two months ago, a source came forward with leaked internal documents. While the statement Eskom released today is light on details, amaBhungane has been able to piece together what went wrong and why Eskom is now pushing forward with charges: READ Inside Eskom’s dodgy R21-billion diesel deal: amabhungane.org/inside-eskoms-…

Jack Antonoff on people who use AI to make music: “Nothing more embarrassing than considering there is a way to optimize the holy process. Godless whores…it’s mainly the out of touch shouting about following this nightmare. The new artists I know are genuinely uninterested…”

This is a valid argument since rape, HIV &GBV did not exist until Em Tee N & Vohdakhomu became part of our lives 🙂 It's not like the Jackrollers were gang-raping women in the 1980s or anything.

78 years of ongoing Nakba. 78 years of erasure. Against all odds, we remain on our land and the land of our ancestors. Return is our right. Freedom is our destiny. On May 15, join the Palestinian people in commemorating the Nakba. #NAKBA78 🎥 PAL Global Echo

Did you know that Africa, including South Africa, is being used as a "dump site" for unsafe cars? Manufacturers are selling models in South Africa/Africa that lack life-saving features that are standard in Europe and the US. These unsafe cars sre: ● Toyota Starlet -structurally unstable ● Hyundai Grand i10 - recently failed crash tests. ● Corolla Cross drop - side-curtain airbags are removed in Africa to "cut costs". ● Chery Tiggo 7 Pro- Lacks side head protection and has an unstable bodyshell. Recent #SaferCarsForAfrica reports from the @AASouthAfrica and @GlobalNCAP reveal a shocking double standard. Why is this allowed? The AA blames outdated SABS regulations and weak enforcement by the NRCS and Department of Transport. By failing to update baseline safety laws and crash-test standards, authorities are essentially allowing brands to prioritize profit over African lives.
