Though, I think it’s possible to experience both in reasonably close approximation… Susan Cain's Bittersweet gets at this idea

A5. This is complex, for me. I must acknowledge it and try not to push it aside. I can then better address it through conversations with family and making time to do things that bring me happiness. I am better when I don’t fight against it.
