@drewbrees do you think Worthy deserved that unsportsmanlike penalty?

Getting caught up on some old episodes of @JStaatsCPA podcast. And came across the one where he takes a shot at golfers not having a conscious!
Made me laugh! As a golfer I get that but that is my me time. Then my wife goes out on her own later in the week!

Dear @cogecohelps so 3 Sundays in a row my epico DVR has malfunctioned causing me trying to watch an NFL game a few minutes behind live TV to be incredibly disappointed.
How do we fix this?
If this happens again I’d be better off canceling cable and just having on demand.
English

@JStaatsCPA the analogy I think you were so close on in Jason Daily 183 but didn’t say was “accounting is like the vegetables of business we all need it but no one likes it! “

Why are we killing ourselves to make a living?
Stumbled on this thought yesterday for #TaxTwitter

@CPATaxTeam @NFL Funny in Canada mine was different. The crowd was blaring and could hardly hear the announcer ers.
English

Is it my surround system or is the sound off on Peacock? @NFL
Can hardly hear crowd or refs.

@AravindSitham @MarkMcGrathCFP I agree with many of these points. There is no one right answer, it’s a balancing act.
We deal with successful entrepreneurs, so the benefits part doesn’t usually matter to our clients.
English

@TJMiron @MarkMcGrathCFP grows in the RRSP tax deferred and comes out "tax-free". The component that would normally be paid as tax also grows tax deferred but then comes out as "taxes owed".
2) There is the higher income today vs lower income in retirement that favours RRSP's but additionally

@CathyWilliamsCA I’m more surprised about the people they are denying who shouldn’t be, but there is no real appeal process. I’ve had three clients each be denied over $10k on various programs that they truly deserve!

When I start my all girl punk rock band, I'm going to call it AGGRESSIVE NON-COMPLIANCE.... but seriously, is anyone surprised that CRA is reviewing these and that there was widespread non-qualification for these subsidies?

@bsuecannon @ignitionapp Go for it! Give it a try with a small handful and then improve it before you fire it off to everyone.
I love @ignitionapp
English

#TaxTwitter, We're thinking about using @ignitionapp to let clients know what their fee will be in advance (maybe disclaimer if complexity of tax return increases), giving them a 3-tier option (like we do business clients), adding tax projections/tax planning/dealing with correspondence, and then giving them the option to pay monthly or annually. I know some of you are already doing this. I'm in Oklahoma where we're 10 to 20 years behind. 🤣 Any thoughts or suggestions?
English

@bsuecannon @bsuecannon I love this for you! I did it 3 years ago and never regretted it.

We are making big changes for next tax season. Letting go of 150-200 clients. This will get us closer to the business model we want, which is only business clients & their owners, on a monthly fixed fee engagement. What changes are you making for next tax season?

@LoganGrafTax The accounting industry is inherently geared to provide negative feedback since the return can’t be just okay. So make sure to go out of your way to find things to praise them on.
English

@NayoCarterGray We use Google Meet internally. The issue is trying to meet with people who don’t have a Google email address it is a bit unfriendly to them. So we use Zoom for client meetings which is a smaller number of our team.
PS I hate Teams video calls the most.
English

Anyone on #TaxTwitter using Google Meet successfully?
Can we ditch Zoom altogether or do we need to keep it?
English

@JoshYoungblood Be super specific about the client you work 4. @JStaatsCPA only does taxes for bee keepers (based on his pod) if they still ask you can tell them that a good tax answer that doesn’t get you sued requires a 60 month discovery call to make sure your not giving the wrong advice.

@SullyBusiness $2M I have goals of earning more the $400K and it would be easier to grow the $2M biz than it would be the bare bones $500M biz
