@gregroper Not far. At least in baseball automated strike zone is in play in some minor leagues. Tracking chips in footballs to determine ball spot is being used in UFL. Crazy times

Aaron Leanhardt, the mastermind behind the Yankees torpedo bats, has one of the craziest career pivots ever. • Earned a PhD from MIT • Worked on a NASA-funded research team • Physics professor at Michigan for 7 years Leanhardt then left academics (at 40 years old) to pursue baseball. He started at Dawson Community College in Montana before becoming a minor league coach for the Yankees. Leanhardt then got moved to the big league club and was responsible for bridging the gap between the analytics department and the players by translating complex analytical data into actionable insights. What a journey.

@NateDogg44 @JoePompliano It was my sophomore year. 2017-18 season He was just there the one year and then got on with the Yankees in 2018. I thought you were there but maybe not ??

@JoePompliano I went from hitting 80mph off a tee as a freshman in college to 96mph consistently in a matter of days with Coach Lenny! Changed my swing entirely. He has such a unique approach to the game

@gregroper @JoePompliano It really is! I spoke with him recently and the media definitely has distorted the story. This bad has been around for a little while. But he’s an incredibly accomplished person. I’m not surprised to find him in the middle of all this.

Here’s a brief explanation. This was blown way out of proportion. This bat has been around for awhile and used by many players on many different teams. It’s not illegal. Let’s all just come down.

Good point. I forgot about the Ax handle bats and the different knobs offered. Someone mention the sliding mitts giving baserunners a distinct advantage when sliding into bases and yet no one seems to care about that. Suddenly 3 players on the Yankees are using the bats during a weekend series where they hit 15 home runs and it’s an issue. All it really is just Yankees hate.

It’s also really funny to me because this is probably the most simple and easy thing Lenny has done in his entire life, I’m pretty sure he was part of the team who created the coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth 😂

Haha this is the easiest and most common comment that I’m getting, and i get it. But one thing to clarify, this isn’t a brand “new” idea. People have been tinkering with bats for a long time. And probably made very similar ones to how these look …
