KIDS: Nic Dowd is from Alabama. Went to Culver Military Academy. Played in the NAHL then USHL. Went to college as a 20 year old freshman. Played four years at St. Cloud. Spent a couple full years in the AHL before being an NHL regular as a depth player. Now on the ice taking the faceoff in the Western Conference Finals up a goal in the Dzone with Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner on his wings. Everyone has a different path. And if your path is the long way, be a great teammate and a versatile player. Dowd is widely known as an unreal locker room glue guy. And a great role player. What an effort to score this goal beating everyone up the ice to seal it for Vegas. This is why I love watching the playoffs. Players who don't normally get the spotlight stepping up in big situations to help teams win. Hockey rules.

@nicolebrca I thought I was going to win the cup every year and I was 1/16. So I will get one right in the next 15 years probably. Stay tuned!

Love Newhook going to the hard areas and getting rewarded. But… I cannot stand these kids scoring goals and then blatantly skating by their teammates to celebrate alone. If you go through 5 guys and score then go ahead and do your thing. Any other scenario give your teammates some love. Especially in playoffs! #team

Just looked at some of your goals and found some of you skating past your teammates to go celebrate with the fans on the glass.... so are you a hypocrite or just something you decided was important later in your career

@HabbyGilmore It’s kind of more of a general statement because I’ve seen it so much this year. I have nothing against Newhook and actually saw him play in Tampa and thought he stood out in the game. Trust me if he was a “has been” like me on his couch he’d want to go for the instant hug too 😂

@TJOshie77 I actually went through a lot of your goals trying to prove you wrong, But many times you instantly pointed to your guys and went for the hug.. But also I don’t think there’s anything there. Just a guy scoring a goal and being fired up.

I’m more of a detail guy. I think how you celebrate with your teammates is important. If you don’t think that, then that’s fine. If you want to get in a chirp fest about our jobs on Twitter though, you picked the wrong guy. Honestly, if one young player sees this and decides he’s going to celebrate with his teammates after he scores, I think it was worth the post.

If I played in the NHL, I would have a “penalty kill” stick. 5 inches longer than my regular stick. 4 guys all with longer sticks will decrease space to work with.

@anthony_smith80 I don’t think he skated by me. Definitely not through my arm. I could be wrong though. He scored so many times it’s hard to remember.

He skates through a teammates arm that’s trying to celebrate with him. I’m not saying it’s just him. A lot of guys do it now. I personally think it’s selfish in the moment. Not saying they are selfish themselves but in the moment you should be thinking about all the guys that did the work so you could score. You think different?
