The defining moment for TLMTI at LEPCON 2026 was the poster presentation by people affected by leprosy who are now community champions. Their poster on barriers in accessing social entitlements resonated with the audience.

A key focus of our India efforts has been creating sustainable livelihoods for people affected by leprosy and their families. Implemented in partnership with @TLMIndia, the programme offers certified vocational training, soft skills development, on-the-job experience, and the formation of Self Help Groups. For individuals like Anita and Raju, these opportunities have translated into practical skills and steady work. Nearly 600 individuals have been directly impacted so far, with positive effects extending to families and communities. Meaningful rehabilitation includes dignity, continuity, and long-term opportunity beyond the disease. #GlobalHealth #WorldLeprosyDay #CorporateSocialResponsibility

Despite being declared leprosy free nearly two decades ago, India continues to account for almost 60 percent of the global leprosy burden. For those affected, access to work remains a critical step toward rehabilitation and social inclusion. Our CSR initiatives in India are shaped by a community-first approach, with a focus on sustainable outcomes rather than short-term support. In FY 2024–25 alone, these interventions reached approximately 150,000 lives. This work in India is part of a longer global journey. For 25 years, our partnership with the World Health Organization has helped reach over 8.3 million people affected by leprosy and contributed to a 96 percent reduction in the global disease burden since 1980.
