Very happy that HAPPY is published at @NatureComms! nature.com/articles/s4146… HAPPY is an AI pipeline for cell and micro-anatomical tissue analysis in placenta histology. The placenta has seen relatively little attention in AI for digital pathology and it’s time we change that 🧵

Interested in the genetics of ectopic pregnancy? Read the medrxiv preprint by @PujolGualdo @m_reedik and myself where we identify the first genetic susceptibility loci for the condition medrxiv.org/content/10.110… (1/n)

Phenotype-level analyses show ⬆️ prevalence of rep. health dgn in women with EP, reflecting known epidemiological associations between EP and IVF, salpingitis & PID. We also observe ⬆️ prev. of respiratory dgn which can be linked to altered ciliary function similar to EP. (8/n)

@epigenci Hi! That’s a good Q! Usually, genetic studies ➡️ better insight into disease biology, which in turn ➡️ potentially novel prevention/treatment/drugs. With POP, I’d say genetic risk profiling to find women at highest risk and prevent disease onset has potential
