@MrSausageGet I've seen pics of the real guy. Anyone thinking that's the real Admiral is either blind or the most gullible person on Earth. His eyes are different, his skin and teeth are different and his voice is different. Oh, AND HE'S WEARING A MASK!

@nicksortor So let's say it is an alien spacecraft. Based on the ability to even get to our planet, we know they're so far ahead of us in technology, its like they're Einstein and we're an embryo. So we shoot it down. What do you think they'll do now...hmmmm.

@Gulskjegg @OwenShroyer1776 You ought to.see Houston! It's beautiful. The trees are so pretty and there's so many pines. We live in the Hill Country, which is also beautiful. But I'd live in Houston if it weren't for the hurricanes and gators. So...nope!

@archeohistories an interesting (even moving) story, but it seems a lot of your postings are meant to emphasize a political viewpoint and aren't just about enjoying archeology. am I wrong?

In October 1772, an eighteen-year-old enslaved woman was brought before a panel of eighteen of the most powerful men in Boston. The governor was there. The lieutenant governor. John Hancock. Seven ministers. Several Harvard graduates. Their task was to determine whether a Black woman could have written poetry. Phillis Wheatley answered their questions, demonstrated her knowledge of Latin and Greek, recited her verses. She proved what they did not want to believe. They signed a document attesting to her genius, and the following year, she became the first African American to publish a book of poems. She had been kidnapped from West Africa around the age of seven. The slave ship that carried her across the Atlantic was called The Phillis -- and that became her name. When she arrived in Boston in 1761, she was purchased by John and Susanna Wheatley, a merchant and his wife, who put her to work as a domestic servant. But they soon noticed something extraordinary. Within sixteen months, the child could read the Bible. Within a few years, she was reading Latin and Greek, translating Ovid, studying astronomy and geography. Susanna's daughter Mary, the same age as Phillis, became her tutor, and the family, recognizing her gifts, excused her from most household labor and encouraged her to write. By fourteen, she had published her first poem. By seventeen, her elegy for the famous minister George Whitefield had made her name known across the colonies and in England. She was a prodigy -- and a paradox. An enslaved woman writing verse in the language of her captors. A poet who had to prove she was human before she could prove she was good. That was the purpose of the 1772 examination. No American publisher would print her work -- they refused to believe an enslaved Black woman was capable of such poetry. So she was brought before Boston's elite to be tested. "She passed with flying colors," the historian Henry Louis Gates Jr. later wrote. The eighteen men signed an attestation, included in the preface of her book, certifying that the poems "were written by Phillis, a young Negro Girl, who was but a few Years since, brought an uncultivated Barbarian from Africa." In 1773, Wheatley traveled to London with the Wheatleys' son. She was celebrated there -- invited to meet the Lord Mayor, praised by aristocrats, funded by the Countess of Huntingdon. An audience with King George III was arranged, though she returned to Boston before it could take place. She wrote to a friend about the "unexpected and unmerited civility" she had received. Her book, "Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral," was published in London that September. She became, in the words of one scholar, "the most famous African on the face of the earth." Shortly after, she was emancipated. Some historians believe she made her freedom a condition of returning from England. But freedom did not mean ease. The Wheatleys who had supported her died within a few years, and she was on her own -- a free Black woman in Revolutionary Boston, trying to support herself with her pen. In 1774, she published a letter to the Reverend Samson Occom, a Mohegan minister and fellow advocate for the rights of Black and Indigenous people. It was her clearest condemnation of slavery: "In every human Breast, God has implanted a Principle, which we call Love of Freedom; it is impatient of Oppression, and pants for Deliverance." Two years later, she wrote a poem praising George Washington's appointment as commander of the Continental Army. He replied with admiration -- and an invitation. "If you should ever come to Cambridge, or near Head Quarters," Washington wrote, "I shall be happy to see a person so favour'd by the Muses." Some historians believe she accepted. We do not know for certain. © A Mighty Girl #archaeohistories

@LynnCareySaylor @FBIDirectorKash The mustache doesn't match at all and neither does the eyebrows. I can't imagine what he's going thru and then being accused of it. Why dont we let the FBI handle it and stop trying to play judge and jury and ruin people's lives, as well as their children, by doing it.

New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie:   Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.   Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance.   Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit tips.fbi.gov

I can't emphasize this enough. Yes a #PolarVortex (PV) split happened but the predicted #cold for 3rd week of March in Eastern US isn't related to the classical downward influence. Instead it's our familiar friend the PV stretch, textbook looking at 100mb, NAO is raging positive!

@pokerszn @historyinmemes Ok so apparently enough people said what I was thinking but you know zero about music and even less about talent. This man changed everything and 90% of what you hear on the radio and what you are allowed to see on TV was started by this man. Do your homework.

A young woman is overwhelmed with emotion while watching Elvis Presley perform in concert in Philadelphia, April 1957. By 1957, Elvis Presley had become far more than a recording artist—he was a full-blown cultural force. His April performance in Philadelphia arrived at the peak of “Elvismania,” when the roar of screaming fans often drowned out the music itself, and police were present not for violence, but to manage swooning audiences. That same year, Elvis appeared three times on The Ed Sullivan Show, drawing an estimated 60 million viewers—over 80 percent of the U.S. television audience. His fusion of rhythm and blues, gospel, and country, combined with his provocative stage movements, alarmed conservative America while thrilling young fans, particularly teenage girls rarely given such cultural focus. Venues frequently reported fainting, tears, and medical emergencies, prompting psychologists to label the reaction “mass hysteria.” Attempts by some radio stations to ban his music over moral concerns only fueled record sales further.

@MS2PZ I've lived in 2 haunted houses. You know youre not imagining things when other people and your dog experience the same things. He would look at the ceiling and follow it around and refuse to walk on the floor in the living room. He would jump from the couch into the hallway.

@Matt_Pinner Its called having fun. Being happy. Not being mean and cruel to other people. Maybe people should be open to people that are different from themselves. Maybe we would be one of the happiest countries on Earth instead of one of the most despised and embarrassed.
