Plants and animals depend on Earth’s daily cycle of light and dark rhythm to govern life-sustaining behaviors such as reproduction, nourishment, sleep and protection from predators.

Any artificial light that is not needed is a pollutant that has serious and harmful consequences. Effective outdoor lighting reduces light pollution, leading to a better quality of life for all.
