Repeat after me: LAB WEBSITES MATTER! While it may seem like a nice-to-have... in today's world, it's a need-to-have. For you, your trainees, and your prospective team members. I couldn't have written this better myself: nature.com/articles/s4225…

Huge congrats to ARIA advisor @demishassabis. Breaking through the barrier of winning a nobel outside academia is rare, but this may be the first case in history of the award going to an entrepreneur whose nobel work was done in the company they founded. Hopefully first of many!

I often think about my work, what I'm feeling passionate about, & whether I'm spending my time in a way that feels meaningful and which I think is good for the world. I know many of you think about this stuff, too. Here are nine exercises that can help. @ltelkins/re-thinking-your-goal-your-mission-your-individual-purpose-your-passion-project-20f5131d5f0b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@ltelkins/re-t…

NEW: Mount Everest isn't just the world's tallest mountain; it's freakishly tall, towering above its neighbouring peaks. But why? It turns out that a river has washed away so much rock that the mountain is 'floating' higher on the mantle! Me @NYTScience nytimes.com/2024/09/30/sci…

@WeiPoints Yes, it does look like a two stage infill. White stuff likely to be zeolite and innermost stuff prehnite. They are often associated, but form under different pressure-temperatures

@TMGernon It’s faint but I think it can be classified as green! Though it’s weird because there seems to be a couple of rings, the outer one is much lighter than the rest of the infill.

Geo twitter! What do you think this is? A #smithsonianjourneys traveler found it on a beech on Iceland’s snæfellsnes peninsula. I initially thought it was basalt that had quartz or something crystallizing in its vesicles. But the circules are rather even — any thoughts???
