The argument isn't that nothing can be done, but that too many are unwilling because they have stakes keeping colonization ongoing even if they are losers in certain aspects.

Poverty is by design, because a few success stories are all it takes to keep people defending the system that keeps most struggling.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) was the most expensive film of the 1980s, costing $70M. To ensure the $50k per minute animation was perfect, the crew spent 14 months in post-production.

War is called defence. Starvation is called economics. Eviction is called law. Extraction is called growth. The dominant system survives by renaming brutality until people stop recognising it.

In disenfranchising capable leaders we may ignore The Bahamas’ needs. Diverse challenges may be better addressed by leaders w/ diverse backgrounds rather than those trained solely in courts/clinics. Good governance demands diverse perspectives, not a privileged few career paths.

In a mature democracy, voters should be concerned with judging candidates on their ideas presented, and perceived integrity and competence, not on a narrow checklist of prior jobs. Suggesting otherwise disenfranchises capable leaders and reinforces an elitist political culture.

I think it’s high time that we, the general population, move past believing that only specific careers confer the qualifications for Prime Ministership in The Bahamas. No single profession holds a monopoly on skills, and wisdom in the areas needed to successfully lead.

@nhayling_ @Jayceofspades_ You cannot read that book and overlook the similarities between the politicians described and Michael Pintard. Michael Pintard - a writer - running as party leader to become Prime Minister. What in his portfolio qualifies him bey?
