@SceneinCinema I find it funny when people look for logic and realistic grounding in movies that are based on fantasy.
"This would never happen dude!"
Me:
"Batman isn't even real... So, why give logic and rationality to the movie."

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (2008), has the most absurd fake science in a movie that you paused at, thought “this makes no sense”… and still allowed because the movie was just that good.
In the film, Bruce Wayne reconstructs a shattered bullet, digitally reassembles the fragments, and somehow pulls a clean fingerprint off it.
When a bullet is fired, friction and the explosion of gunpowder create immense heat (often over 1,000° For 537°C), which would typically destroy any oils, skin cells, or moisture from a human fingerprint long before it hits a wall.
The bullet was fired. It broke apart. It got scanned and rebuilt on a screen. And we’re still getting a perfect, usable print.
No real tech does that. Not even close.
Fingerprints are more likely to be found on the casing (which is ejected) rather than the bullet slug itself (which is fired into the target).
In November 2025, researchers did announce a new electrochemical method to lift prints from fired bullet casings, but this is still a massive jump from what was shown in the 2008 film, especially regarding shattered bullets.
That scene works because Nolan keeps you focused on the process, not the science.
The pacing is tight. The tension builds. The movie has already earned your trust
So you pause for a second…
And then you go, yeah this is nonsense, but I’ll allow it.
So which movie got you like this??
